I wouldn’t say it’s great, I wouldn’t say it’s not good, it’s just poutine. It’s a very informal place, more of a pub atmosphere. We enjoyed our poutine, which was pouring over the rims of the large dish. But, as much as we enjoyed ourselves, I’d say it was mostly out of cultural curiosity and hunger than any real gastronomic appreciation of the dish. It’s fun, like…Hot Dog fun. Not great food. If you want good poutine and a fun experience, try it. But, if you want a selection of options and to sample poutine, try another place which offers but doesn’t specialize on poutine.
Popped in to try the Poutine dish, nice courtyard.Shown to table, menu is viewed online. Girl said she'd give 5mins for us to view. Turned into 20min, we asked another waiter who verbally took our order, 10 more minutes passed, we then gestured to him that we still hadn't got drinks. These then arrived along with food. A small bottle of water was given as apology for wait. Grilled chicken Poutine was nice initially but each mouthful is the same and lower you get the more soggy the chips. Our bill came, 2xPoutine, 2xbeers advertised at $52. $10 Tax is then added. I paid $70 cash, I was asked if I wanted my $8 change, I said I'd take $5. The waiter pointed to a suggested figure on the receipt which said $7.95. I replied the service had been poor and wanted $5 change, leaving them $3. He gave me the $5 before swiping back the bottle of water he'd earlier given. That action summed up the service, pathetic.
I must admit that this was my first poutine experience, but it was a very good one. The poutine was delicious. I most appreciated that the fries were nice and crispy. That crispiness held up as I continued to eat the dish. It didn't just become a soggy mess. There was a nice level of salt and the gravel was not thin. The place is also pretty cool. I sat in the courtyard area. The price was also better that other restaurants that I had checked out. The service was quick. I would go here again.
Almost no cheese... and the gravy was so diluted... not worth any penny... Will not buy food there ever again.
Located in busy old downtown Montreal. The servers are friendly. Ordered regular poutine. It was okay, needed more gravy on
