New Canada Hot-Dog - Montréal

After more than 2 months of minced meat (real meat without TVP, no vegetable substitutes) I decided to grab a fast cheeseburger on the way home. Although there is a (delicious) Boulette place over the street, I was looking for something in a lower budget (still not...McD's though.) This burger finally got started once and for all my pleasure. Easy, fast and delicious! Friendly service also (in French and English!)

When you run in the first thing that meets you, the lift of the open kitchen is; the brigade is six deep and each of them is cuddling. first thought: this is just an almost food place, just a hot dog and poutine food, which is. the answer to this question will soon be disclosed. it is clear that this is not her simple run-of-the-billion greasy spoon; it is not just one of the hundreds of cheap Eats, fast food, serv-everything neighborship diners that permeates the city. this place is the real deal. not an ad-cat-come, no irrigated franchise-sowner. these youngs do everything the others do, but they do it right. the idea is the same, the whole city. offer a lot of favorite, from pizza to subs, souvlaki to burger. throw them in their grilled meat and their deli sandwiches and their generic salads, suppen and pommes, and they have the quintessential mediocre montreal diner. the customers will come again and again because eating is addictive and cheap. we see the pattern that repeats itself and for some of us, I included, it has become more than just boring; it is an affront to my palate and an insult to eat good, authentic, local comfort. new kanada (nouveau canada hot-dog, if you want.) the script is much the same. but instead of tedium, there is excitement. instead of the ho-hum of so many of our familiar neighborhood memories of our city, where everything they order is a disappointing version of something they tasted in their childhood and long to experience, they are filled with a surprising and refreshing step back. the classics are all there: the pommes, the hamburger steak, the brochette and the whole day breakfast. except that, instead of feeling like an imitation, like a poor fassimile of something they had before, each court hits them with an authenticity and a quality that she thought was lost in the past. this place makes everything right. the service is on-point and ingenious. eating, everything from salad dress to seasoning on the frits to tender char on the meat is absolutely perfect. I was with two friends to eat. we stayed long past our meals and ordered a second pitcher beer. we have left more than satisfied. my friends agreed with me that this little native is an absolute jewel. it is at first sight as so many other mediocre have-it-all diners in whole montreal. the truth is, new canada does everything the other diners do in the city, with an exception: they do it right. new canada diner is the best example for the typical authentic montreal diner experience and I still have to come across its same. kudos an dimitri and the rest of the personal to keep authentic Canadian comfort foods vital and relevant.

The hot dogs were never disappointed here. if they have the push for a steamed or roasted hot dog, this is the place to go. fries are also delicious and cooked exactly right. no frills, quick service and always hot. since over 40 years go and have to say no one comes close. the hotel is located in rosemount la petite patrie.

Since its opening in 1972. 4th generation owner. The young man at the counter speaks fluent French, English and Greek. Very personal. The place has been renovated since our last visit 7 years ago. Great roasted all-dressed dogs, fries perfectly cooked and ice cold... drinks. The claw was great. $20 including tip!

Been gong there since the last 23 years. The steamed hot-dog are very good. Steamed perfectly, a lots of cabbage, not the sweet coleslaw, juts very juicy cabbage. The poutine is very good, a lot of cheese. The people who work their since the last...23 years are very nice and efficient. If you want a good Hot Dog and pass around Beaubien street, give it a try.
