Le Bellevue - Montrichard Val de Cher

My wife and I ate three dinners here. The food was good. The prices are reasonable. Get a seat at the window so you can see the Cher. Hot service was fine and the staff helpful.

While the food is nice,the location is excellent,the ambiance is unfortunately cold typical in France 20 years ago.... It's a pity...

We arrived for lunch. A blackboard outside announced proudly : "Today : followed by a list of succulent-souding dishes. We went in. We wanted to eat on the terrace and were told no. I asked for one of the specials and was told no. My husband asked for another and was told no. The only purpose of the board it to attract people in then you get told what you will eat and drink. I asked for rosé wine and was told I could have red or white. We were frankly too intimidated to get up and walk out LOL. I would rather have slept in the car than ask for a room. Old and tired decor. Ghastly experience. We live in Brittany where customer service is key and are not used to such poor service.

Very strange place. We’re travelling through area and only came here because the restaurant at our hotel was full. Our French is limited but we can manage the basics of asking for a table and ordering dinner. When we asked the waitress for a table she said she didn’t understand English. Strange given we hadn’t been speaking any English. Only a few tables occupied and ambience was non existent. No music, people whispering. Took over an hour for them to serve us our one course and the only reason this is a two star and not a one star review is that the food was ok and the service improved, a little. But you are not made to feel welcome and in retrospect we should have just left immediately. Avoid.

We arrived at the time of our booking, yet, getting the attention of the staff was dreadful. From not being offered the menus to having to beg for ordering drinks to kill time until eventually getting 2 menus (for a party of 5 , the service was poor. When we brought up the apparent attention deficit to their guests, the staff showered us with a myriad of blunt excuses (e.g. we only have two hands and two feet , asking for our attention will not make us go any faster , etc. . We waited over an hour to finally be served: enough time for other guests to leave and for our party to get some attention. Too bad because the food is good.
