Honestly I don’t believe that food is worth it the best part of my meal was the Brussel sprouts the rest of my dish was bad I could make something better at home, my husband also felt the same way, yes the view is nice but it’s just not worth it
I really enjoyed the whole experience!! I was a little apprehensive because of the reviews but , the kale salad and snapper was delicious
I moved to Houston as a kid about the time the Spindletop opened and I remember wanting to visit it ever since. I tried a couple of times but it was out of commission due to storms, or, simply booked. Finally, I was able to take my wife there this last weekend. She and I are in the habit of trying both new and established restaurants and we embrace the experience (even if I am prone to steak places) I 'm not sure what I expected, but to me it was meh . I don 't think I built it up due to my long time curiosity. I knew buildings had encroached on the view...which still had patches of the spectacular when passing City Hall and the Aquarium Ferris Wheel, but the decor and service was average at best. The vegetables were good, but, my main course for me, the Ribeye was not a great cut of beef and poorly prepared, including being SERIOUSLY underdone.....rare at best when I prefer and ordered medium plus. I was not in the mood to send it back (also, I hesitate to do so growing up as a teen in restaurants) Perhaps more understandable if the menu was even a bit larger, but the menu was very limited. Now, it 's my fault I am currently on Keto and my choice would have likely been the ribeye regardless, but I felt trapped into the choice since the menu seemed sparse (which we knew due to viewing menu online, but still we expected what they did serve to be better). The waiter did adjust my bill a bit for the bad steak and I tipped him more plus the difference but I was hoping for a better overall experience. Oh, one little nit....the previous GM had put the kibosh on Sweet Low. Yes, I like the little pink packet and I do know it is very, very minor, it was just one more thing.
I was staying in the Hyatt Regency for business and thus was solo. I read other reviews that the food was so so and to just do drinks, but to make sure to still reserve a table. I felt unvalued from the start. I was shown to my table, and asked to see just the drink and dessert list. They asked me if I wanted to go to their “lounge” as it was closer to a window and I said yes. The “lounge” was ok a couple of small cocktail tables. They told me they’d bring me a water and the dessert list. It took 10 minutes for water and the dessert menu to actually be delivered for me. I ordered a drink, and it took another 10 minutes for it to actually come out to me. No one came by to check on me, I was rudely given the dessert menu without the waiter explaining anything on it. A couple of minutes after I received my drink, another group came in for drinks. Instead of seating them at a table that could accommodate 3, they sat them at a 2 top and took my extra chair. It was unbelievably rude. This group had the dessert menu and cocktail menu explained to them and waters brought out immediately. I finished my drink and then waited a ridiculously long time for my waiter to ever come back. I had dug cash out of my wallet and was literally about to leave it on the table and walk out when someone finally noticed me and walked over to give me my check. Overall, it was a horrendous experience. Spindletop needs to treat solo business travelers better they’re located in a hotel! Do they not expect business travelers to ever come by?! The dessert menu (which I was given no details on) looked poor and nothing interested me. The drink list was ok, but they had no dry bubbly. Prices were ok. For better service and food, go to the steakhouse downstairs. The views were cool, but nothing to write home about.
