Whataburger#11 - Mooresville

Let’s be honest: if you're coming to this restaurant, it's not for quick service, cheerful staff, or a cozy atmosphere. The main attraction here is the burgers, and they really know how to make them. If you choose to eat inside, you'll place your order and then find a seat to wait for your ticket number to be called. It has a bit of a bingo vibe, as you listen for your number to pop up. It’s a fun experience, especially for anyone unfamiliar with this type of dining. I personally found it enjoyable; it brought back great memories, and the food was tasty. The restaurant could certainly use a good cleaning—it seems like it hasn't been refreshed since the 1960s. But that’s not why you’re here; you’re here for the burgers, which were amazing. I loved them and would definitely return for more.

I'm rating this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 because I mistakenly thought I was going to Whataburger (without hyphens). I was disappointed to find out that What-a-Burger and Whataburger are actually two different places. I went ahead and placed my order, and while I waited, I learned about the history of both restaurants. The burger was decent—quite similar to the original.

We enjoyed tasty and budget-friendly burgers at this classic drive-in. It took Ilia a little time to realize that the intercom for ordering was not working, so we ended up having to flag down a waitress for help.

I recently had a disappointing experience at Whataburger. Unfortunately, my order was incorrect, which affected my overall dining experience. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to take the time to ensure accuracy, leading to a mix-up with my order. I appreciate the brand's reputation for quality, and I would love to return for a better experience in the future. However, this time it fell short of my expectations. Just as others has posted, you aren’t here for the speed of the service but for so much more. Circa-50s drive-in, in what I believe to be much like in its original state, could totally be wrong as I’m from the CLT area, but cool nonetheless. The ladies in there are a hoot. I can’t forget the comment I heard while waiting when a party came through the drive-in and couldn’t hear the gal trying to take his order. She said quite bluntly that maybe if he turned off his loud car he could hear her. He did and I believe joked back with her and I could hear the other gals laughing. Every one in there was so kind and welcoming and extremely patient considering how busy it was in there. We had a pretty large and diverse order and they got all of it together for us without missing a beat. While the wait was pretty lengthy, probably 15-20 min, everyone in our party appreciated everyone bite of their food. While this is only my 3rd time here, I have yet to have any complaints about their delicious burgers. We will be back again when we are in the area. Thank you!!
