Was contemplating between The Rocks and some other restaurant but glad we decided to come here instead. The Rocks was a solid choice.<br/ <br/ Keeping it short, The Rocks had all the qualities needed to make the dining experience pleasant. Delicious fresh foods, prompt friendly service, and a great selection of wines straight from Mornington. Very safe bet if you are going for a nice romantic seafood dinner. My favourites were their Tempura Oysters, Seafood Spaghetti and Lamb Shoulder. They were all bloodly delicious. Can't say they were the best I've ever had but definitely above average. 0 complaints. Also, would love to try their Seafood Platter next time. Too bad they didn't offer at the time.<br/ <br/ It was too dark for us to enjoy the view at the time but I have no doubt the view's sick during the day considering how it's located right by the pier. In fact, go for a walk towards pier. It's dark and intimate such a great bonding opportunity if you know what I'm saying. There were heaps of people fishing which was pretty cool as well.
A great way to top off a day trip to the picturesque Mornington peninsula region would include a stop for lunch at The Rocks, situated right on Mornington Pier. <br/ <br/ We sat right by the window which opened up with an incredible view of Port Phillip Bay. <br/ <br/ Staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. I can’t fault the service.<br/ <br/ The one gripe I had was the small serving my partner and I received on our seafood platters. Perhaps the kitchen can fill the plates with complimentary sides and improve the design of the plates? One king prawn, really? I’m sure they can afford to be a bit more generous and throw a few more prawns, clams or scallops on the plate??<br/ <br/ The quality of the fish was fresh, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from a seafood restaurant situated right on the water. <br/ <br/ The sweet potato fries were crunchy, seasoned with sea salt and accompanied with aioli, lovely but overpriced. <br/ <br/ Time for dessert the profiterole served with chocolate iced cream was quite nice. The waitress poured chocolate syrup over our profiteroles which was a classy touch. The only advice here... top it off with some crushed unsalted peanuts there you go ... perfection! The great coffee deserves a mention here too.
The rocks is a nice restaurant. Me and my girlfriend went here during a storm, sat outside and watched the rain with a seafood platter. The platter was massive, although not too filling (a good thing! . Would definately go back here.
We were served by a fantastic young gentleman (Michael I believe his name was). He was on top of everything, could not have asked for better service. The food was great, restaurant ambience was nice too. Would highly recommend
Coquettes and barramundi were amazing. Lemon myrtle vinaigrette is delicious on oysters
