Playa Bowls - Morristown

This was my first time dining here, and we ordered two PURA VIDA bowls without honey, each priced at $12.50. The strawberries and blueberries were fresh and good, but they didn't stand out. The purple base, which I assume is made from açaí berries, contained quite a few frozen chunks. While it was refreshing on a hot day, the texture wasn't very pleasant and felt off, though I can’t say for certain as I don’t have prior experience with this dish. Overall, it was enjoyable aside from the frozen chunks, and there was a decent amount of real fruit. It was a sweet treat, but I feel that the price—4 to 5 times more than what you’d pay for similar items at retail—seems a bit excessive. Also, note that parking can be challenging here. We could make something similar at home for much less, and it would likely taste better without those frozen bits. Still, we might return if the mood strikes us.

When the store manager took my call, I repeated my order again. To my shock, he laughed as well and said I had called the wrong location before abruptly hanging up on me. This has been the rudest and most disrespectful experience I’ve ever had, and it felt racially insensitive. No one should have to endure mockery over their accent. It is disrespectful to the Latino community, and if there was confusion about my order, it is the responsibility of the staff to become familiar with the menu, not mine as a customer. As a further update, I sent a formal complaint to the Morristown location via email, but they never responded.

This new location in Morristown, situated on the green, is fantastic. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program and order ahead to skip the wait. The Pura Vida Acai bowl is absolutely delicious!

Acai bowls and employees themselves are great. Employees have been working in 82 degree temperature as boss will not fix AC in summer heat. Max indoor temperature for businesses is 76 degrees. Legally and ethically this is wrong. Edit as owner responded: as mentioned, employees do a great job. But a business that doesn't provide safe, cool working conditions for its employees should not receive a good review.

Made a few minor tweaks to the Pura Bida bowl. Team was happy to accommodate and bowl was delicious.
