During our visit, we were seated next to a noisy table, and the low ceiling combined with inadequate soundproofing made for a constantly frustrating experience. While some dishes were truly exceptional, others fell flat. The tuna steak schnitzel was a highlight and absolutely delicious. However, when you consider the service, the mixed quality of the food, and the lackluster atmosphere, it simply doesn’t justify the expense. It's a pity, really. Plus, no one enjoys dealing with QR code menus.
We visited for a late Valentine's/anniversary celebration and had clearly specified our dietary requirements. However, these were not taken into account initially, and I had to repeat everything to our waitress, who then went off to consult the chef again. The food was hit or miss; I particularly enjoyed the brioche with mozzarella and the celeriac dish, but everything else was forgettable. The beetroot dish had a strange, fishy taste that was off-putting. It was unclear if they accidentally served us something that contained fish, but it was challenging to eat, and we didn't want to waste it because of our beliefs. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience, especially given the price point. If you're looking for a more romantic setting with attentive service, I recommend avoiding this restaurant. There are better Italian spots in Sydney that would offer a more enjoyable experience.
I absolutely loved the view and the food at this restaurant. We opted for the set menu, and we were fortunate that the weather cleared up just in time for us. For dessert, we were moved outside, which was lovely. The only amusing aspect was the restroom — my friends and I had a bit of trouble locating the door!
We spent the 1st day of holiday enjoying the most beautiful view and fabulous food in Ormeggio at The Spit yesterday. After some struggles (everything looks so good! , we decided to go freestyle and save the set menu for another time. All the dishes were delicious and perfectly seasoned! My favourite was the octopus which was so juicy and tender. That hint of smoked flavour elevates it even more. I particularly appreciate it came to the table with a little stove with charcoal hitting up the flatbread. The scallop, scampi and the housemade crab pasta were very good too!l However, nothing can beat their famous lime sorbet with Italian meringue. That dish is soo refreshing and delicious and I miss that badly already! The portion was huge but I think it was food considering we didn’t order too many savoury dishes. It was a perfect way to end the lunch on a hot summer day! The service was very friendly and attentive. I even received a warm message (an hr prior my booking time indicating the traffic was heavy and care was needed when travelling. Overall, I think it definitely worths the price tag considering the high standard of food, customer service and the view. I cannot wait to go back!
Excellent service, lovely food, and the best gelato ever! I've visited twice in the last few months (once set menu and once a la carte), and enjoyed myself very much both times. If it's your first time, the chef's selection set menu is a great choice. Views at lunch time are absolutely beautiful, especially on a sunny day.
