Wesley Hill - Mount Alexander

This bakery is well-known for its great selection of products and excellent customer service. It is definitely worth a visit.

If you're in Castlemaine and looking for a quick and delicious lunch that won't break the bank and doesn't require waiting for hours, this is the spot for you. Located just a few kilometers outside the city, parking is not an issue like it can be in the city on the weekend. They offer a variety of cakes and sandwiches, as well as coffee and tea at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is laid-back and casual, and they also sell a type of bread that tends to sell out quickly.

It has been a while since I last visited the Wesley Hill Bakehouse. The new owners have made changes to the menu, which I found disappointing as some of my favorite dishes like speck and eier baked were no longer available. The food just isn't as good as it was under the previous owners. I may not return in the future.

Their postcard holds the tag line "Home of Castlemaine's famous vanilla slice." and while I'm not one to question origins, you'd be a fool not to grab

Hyperbole aside, the vanilla slice may actually *be* famous, if not worldwide, then definitely locally.
