We visited Kooroomba Vineyards Restaurant recently and were pleased to see the new owners have turned it around from the past owners unwelcoming hospitality. It was a very pleasurable experience, the service was spot on, the food was great and the beautiful vineyard setting topped it off. We cant wait to go again.Richard, Liz and Peter
We had lunch at Kooroomba Vineyards Restaurant as part of our Total Indulgence Wine Tour with Pterodactyl HelicoptersOur server was pleasant and attentive. The food was good, however I was dissapointed in my duck - it seemed to be wrapped in what looked like "pressed chicken" - not sure what was going on there. The special entree of wagyu beef carpaccio was delicious and the wine we had with lunch matched well
Went to Kooroomba (third visit) today to celebrate a 60th birthday. We booked the table over a month ago - explaining that it was for a 60th birthday and requesting a table on the 'church' side. Upon arrival we were seated on the other side of the restaurant (still nice views, although it does include the car park). The spot was in full sunlight and very hot through the glass window. Two of us had to wear sunglasses inside. We asked if we could move, they told us they could lower the blinds. Still hot. We asked if we could move again. They lowered the blinds some more. Third time we asked if we could move. After all, there were two vacant tables on the other side of the dining room, in the shade and with the positioning we had requested. The waitress said 'Those are booked, and I am very busy'. Firstly - super rude. Secondly - did those people book over a month ago for a special occasion? Maybe they did. We ended up staying at our very hot table, with no apologies made. Apart from this, I am sorry to say the service from the waitstaff overall was very average. Reading the specials like something at a local pub, plonking the food on the table and quickly running off, and not clearing empty bottles of wine even when new ones were ordered. Oh and to top it off, when we left at 2:15 (having arrived at 12:30) those two tables on the other side were still empty. Turns out their bookings were for 2pm. The food was delicious but they need better staff with decent training.
Always nice to both go for a drive through the country & visit a new place. Lovely setting for this restaurant with some great views through the large panorama windows, though one view rather spoilt with the construction of a large building, no doubt a form of chapel to maximise their investment here with the 'wedding market'.The interior has obviously been constructed at great cost looking at the finishes. Shame they seem to have forgotten to spend a reasonable amount on the toilets! You can always judge a place by the toilets as my dear mum would say. One gents , one ladies and thank goodness there was also one disabled. The gents door does not secure. If I had some tools with me I could have sorted that in a minute. With a restaurant of some 60 covers and outside casual eating then one gents & one ladies is no where near sufficient. When you have a reservation, I do not think that you should have to wait in line with all the casual diners! Disapointed in the service. Perhaps a couple of professional wait staff would be the go. One young girl emerged from the kitchen with crockery tucked under her armpit as her hands were full. The staff did not seem to cope very well during service. Better quality tables and chairs could have lifted the ambience of the restaurant.Oh yes, the food. Food was very good as you would expect after all the hype. I tried the sirloin as there was no eye fillet and though it was cooked to order, I would try something different next time.Wine was rather pricey for such an establishment. Had some Shiraz but it was rather peely wally and not what you expect from Shiraz. On the whole though we would visit again if in the area but certainly not make a special 200k round trip.
