What we didn't know is that we had to park our car at designated parking spots and took Mount Buller's own transport to get into the skiing resort. We checked in to our lovely Breathtaker Hotel Spa (but never really know if there's a spa honestly , then walked around the resort, spending time to take a lot of photos. When we were finally done, we decided to eat dinner early and thank god that we did because the free public transport in Mount Buller ends at certain time (I'd forgotten and our dinner place, Snow Pony, was located on the other side of the resort and walking back to our hotel was quite a distance plus it was very cold as it got dark early. So we arrived in front of the contemporary and cosy restaurant bar. The interior was striking and equally cosy, with both contemporary and traditional chalet elements which include recycled timbers, log walls, cowhide, fire, chandelier and dark marble bar. We were there during non peak period so not many people were seen inside. We were quickly shown to our tables and then we placed our orders as quickly as I didn't want to miss the last bus back to the hotel. All the foods that we had pork belly, prawns, and rice were at that point very delicious. Whether it was the hungry talking due to the cold weather (you know how easy to get hungry during winter or if the chef did a real good job... I'd like to think both. We managed to finish and pay the bill before rushing to board the very last bus of the day back to our cosy accommodation to call it a night. Note: the menu has changed since the time I went there so I didnt elaborate much on them.
When I visited the snow pony last year they were great but when I went back this year it’s standards had fallen we asked for a chocolate croissant and some tea after waiting 30 minutes the food came the cups had stains of old coffee we asked them to turn heaters on whist we wait outside but it never happened.
Open fire to toast marshmallows on, great hot chocolate especially the mega hot chocolate. Meal was awesome rib eye fillet on the bone, desert was amazing
Came in on a Thursday night without a booking at 8 pm. Looking for a table for 2. Several tables free at the front but we were told they were booked so we were placed at the back of the restaurant near a party of 20. Terrible seats and the tables at the front never filled up. Food good and bad. Sword fish good as it should be for $40. Entree size plate of pork shoulder at $25 , poorly presented , looked like a kids meal and pretty dull. Emailed restaurant to let them know all a bit average and never got a reply so now to trip adviser. Wouldn’t come back
Great restaurant, delicious sharing food, fun vibe, beautiful decor, and THE most amazing cocktail- (spicy winter warmer. Go here!!
