Brendan cleverly borrowed an extra chair from a neighboring table to accommodate us. He brought us menus, and we settled in, only to be interrupted by a brief downpour. Thankfully, it stopped just as quickly. At 7:00, I inquired with a server who wasn’t ours about who would be taking care of us. She assured me she would send our server over. After waiting about 35 minutes from our reservation time, our server finally took our drink orders. She was new and friendly, and by 7:20, we received our drinks and water. Had we really been there almost an hour? Yes, but we were with loved ones enjoying a beautiful evening. We placed our food order, and soon after, a lovely young couple headed to their high school homecoming dance sat down next to us. They hurriedly placed an order, concerned they might be late for the dance since many schools close their doors to new arrivals after a certain time. My partner took it upon himself to help them out, finding someone (probably Brendan) to cancel their order so they wouldn’t end up having to pay for a meal they wouldn’t have time to eat. Finally, around 8:30, two of us received our meals while the other two were still waiting. Our server explained that the manager would come to address us. The two guys at our table stared longingly at their cold food while the two women were left waiting. Brendan then ventured out to light a propane heater on the terrace, which looked risky but he handled it well—he truly was committed to making sure everyone was taken care of. He noticed that only two of us had been served and headed back inside to check on things. Through his efforts, or perhaps those of someone else, the remaining two meals finally arrived. I decided to eat my cold dish since it was approaching 9:00 and we remembered our reservation was for 6:30. The manager came out to apologize for the ordeal, pulling up a chair to chat with us. He was genuinely nice, and during our conversation, he explained that they were overwhelmed with walk-ins for their Oktoberfest menu. I didn’t have the heart to point out that perhaps they should prioritize reservations for a smoother experience; after all, I'm not a restaurant manager. He seemed like a good guy, and I hoped for his sake that he wouldn’t have to experience another night like that. We ordered dessert, which was enjoyable, and we were happy overall. Brendan returned to let us know he was finished for the night, and we chatted about his interesting story. In summary, sometimes things go awry, but kindness goes a long way.
The Octoberfest dining experience was wonderful, but the manager was completely incompetent. Everything was thrown away, and instead of helping his staff, he chose to chat. We waited for two hours and ended up taking our food to go because it took too long, so we decided to eat at home. Bethany, our waitress, was fantastic, and I really felt sorry for her and the other employees who have to deal with such disorganization from the new manager. He clearly doesn't know what he's doing.
I was looking to grab a quick meal before taking my wife to the airport. The older hostess was quite chatty, which I appreciated, but I think he misinterpreted my intentions. Despite the bags of hot food I was carrying, he seemed to think I was up for a lengthy conversation. The service was good, but sometimes eating should just be a simple, solitary experience.
The octoberfest eating was very good. we had fun, but. we had a tip after leaving her a cash tip.
Always great food and service at this location. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.
