Krekel's Custard - Mount Zion

Krekel is fantastic! The lemon ice cream is absolutely delightful. The only downside is that they’re closed on Sundays.

I absolutely love Krekels; to say otherwise would be almost sacrilegious. However, I had heard so much about my friends' raving reviews of the incredible burgers elsewhere. While Krekels is located at the top of the hill, I discovered that you don't truly get the perfect burger until you make the short trip to Hammond and visit Scooters! They offer a similar style of burgers, but they’re even better. Trust me, Krekels' burgers are great, but for me, they just don’t top the charts.

I live in Texas. Decatur is my hometown. Krekels is always our first step.

I absolutely love this place! The nostalgia of stopping here for a burger never fades. I've been coming here for almost 30 years, and it has never been anything less than fantastic. Whenever I’m near Decatur or Mt. Zion, I always make a point to drop by and get one of their amazing burgers along with a chocolate shake. They really do serve the best chocolate shakes, you know! You have to give it a try!

It was delicious sure and we understand that it isn't a big chain joint. That said, it's a typical mom and pop burger joint at an inflated price. Stars are for the flavor, minus the price.
