We arrived in pouring rain at 130pm, parking spaces available, the two restaurants facing each other across the road. Showdown. One had a slightly more expensive menu than the other, and as 4 adults with 2 kids and a teenager, we chose other. Small place with locals, very friendly waitress. Moved tables for us. Local duck or steak dishes, pizzas, salads and surprise... fish and chips! In English! Two went with that, one burger, one salad with gizzards (tender and yums), one half magret de canard (very rare, cooked more with no problem), one duck sausage (tough), one pizza (crispy base, delicious). Mountains of home-made rustic skin-on fries with most dishes, tastiest fries ever, though less crispy as probably not twice or thrice-fried. Main dishes at 13-17€, steaks more expensive, generous quantities, very fresh salads. Toilet cleanliness, er, rustic, but that may be due to clients rather than owner. Quick service. Would come again.
We stopped for a quick lunch on our way to Biarritz. Pretty traditional bar with restaurant. Service very friendly, even with our poor French. We did not have the set menu which did look good for €12.50 as we were not too hungry. I had croque monsieur cooked fresh with a green salad and home made chips. Husband had a burger, again homemade cooked a bit rare for my taste but he liked it. With a beer and perrier water the bill came to €24 which we thought was reasonable.
