Waitstaff will ignore you when u walk in but once seated service improves slightly
I tried sit down and take out.Sit down plastic cups and paper plates, get your own drink. It’s not a nice, waited on experience. Not the vibe I was going for and don’t plan to go again because of. The food was good though and the salad was plentiful and fresh. This was the redeeming quality to try it again, but take out.Take out food got here in 30 minutes through a delivery service. Can’t complain about that, but the pizza was luke warm, the sauce barely there and they gave a salad that had clearly been sitting out all day in a prepackaged container. I don’t know why I didn’t receive the same quality of food. When it’s take out, I feel like it should be prepared at its best…since delivery automatically lessens the quality. So basically, I can’t really enjoy them either way. I probably wont ever go there again. One positive quality, one guy at the front is very friendly. The other staff barely acknowledges your existence, but this one guy is nice.Edit: the food that got delivered was not the same quality as the food I was served in person. I need to emphasize this part, because I know it’s your job to defend your practices, but the truth is…the pizza was not made well in general. The sauce was barely there and the toppings were scarce.I can acknowledge (as I did in my first review) that delivery services already negatively impact the food (temp/soggy/etc) but I live 3 minutes away from you. If it takes 20 minutes to make, and sits for another 7 minutes in a heater, then it should have at least been warm. It was luke warm, if that. This isn’t really my biggest gripe though. The salad is where I was disappointed. Take out should automatically be a fresh made salad, especially since we pay extra on those apps. I paid $18 for that little, soggy salad. It was nothing at all like the salad I was served in person. That’s simply the truth. The salad I got in person was huge, full of veggies and super fresh. This was not.I’m not saying any of this to insult or antagonize, but to provide honest and reasonable feedback that you guys will hopefully consider. Take out/delivery meals should be made with the same care as sit down.I’ve gone to the one across the street for years and I like the food/experience there.
I ordered three eggplant pizzas on cauliflower crust which comes in one size only small. That’s in line with other pizza shops as well, so no big deal there and I do realize there’s usually an up charge of generally around $3 extra per pie, although there is no mention of how much their up charge price is on the menu. The problem is when picking up the pizzas I was charged over $30 per pie which is more than the cost of a large pie, plus I added a generous tip. Over $120 later for three small pies, I’ll never order pizza from Eli’s ever again. Shame on me for not saying anything at that moment. The pies were decent in taste, but I’ve had better.I understand Eli’s has a good reputation in Connecticut and their restaurant food is very good, but I just can’t support a business that gouges its customers for no valid reason. Let’s face reality here, the profit on pizza dough, sauce, and cheese is huge, but they’re taking over charging for pizza to a whole new level of greed.
We stopped by on our way back home during a long drive. Quick friendly service. Plenty of seating. Clean bathroom with a changing table. Perfect pit stop :
