Travelling with young kids means you need to find food they are familiar with. In this case we were looking for pizza and also we fancied a steak. The pizza was very good, the steak was excellent both my wife and I remarked that we hadn’t had a rump so well cooked and presented in a very long time. Definitely recommended.
We were there for lunch. Without a reservation we had to go to the winter garden, but it was not crowdy, all ok. My wife and I received menu cards with differnet content, honestly, I couldnt see aperitifs, open wines and other things as the pages were gone! Ok changing my menu with my wife, we could order: gamberi alio olio, noodles, gnocchi with tomato and tiramisu, accompoanied wby a VW and some red wine. The VW was extraordinary. The same judgement for the gamberis, it is óne of my standard dishes and this is currently one of the best I know! The gnocchi were also good and the Tiramisu was a fantastic ending of a good lunch. The spagetii alio olio were good, but not that extraordinary, a bit more spicy peperoncini would help, but maybe this is a question for the chef. Nice location, downtown Kettwig, not cheap, but worth the money.
Unfortunately I have to make other experiences in serafino. Eating was in the round okay, but I've never met such an rude operation. herr augusta, the owner, helped his personal to use the food. he had a rough ton when he picked up the job that bothered us. as weeping and appetizing, he disregarded some of our quite common and polite asking as if the waitress would take a glass that is not needed, or we could get a teller to share a starter. he rushed over such stimulating guests and kept us rough and loud. we now complained about its inhospitableness, whereupon the situation escalates. in the following he also referred other guests (of course friends/recognition) to the discussion by trying to agree with them. only the fact that the food was then served, did not lead to us. but during eating, herr augusta stared at us and liked himself with his personal one about us. Conclusion: even a waiter can have a bad day, but I still fear the rudeness I experienced in serafino.
It is a smaller restaurant that relatiw is cramped. if they want to eat there, they should order a table beforehand. the quality of food and service are good. it is better to sit on the terrace in the summer months. on the photo the terrace is not yet prepared for the guests, otherwise it is very pleasant there.
