Discovered this wonderful place one sunny Sunday and will most definately be back. Just the right size, atmosphere was great. There is a restaurant as well as the self service area where we sat. Food was good, had baked potato with smoked salmon for 9€, was enough for 2 people. Quality and price are excellent. There is also a play area for the kids. Just cross the road any you're on the banks of the Isar. This will become a regular stop on our Munich list.
The wait staff is friendly, the menu is wonderful for the Christmas holidays (like warm apple pumpkin soup, yum). the vegetarians and meat lovers all enjoyed the meal, which came promptly. Will return when we have our next walk along the Isar.
As an after work event, a colleague organized a picnic from Floßlände and we picked up our carts with BBQ makings, deck chairs, salads and beverages. The trip over the road across the bridges and down to the stony beaches of the river are a bit of a hike but if you're dressed appropriately and prepared for a fun time this is an awesome experience. As an afterwork social event it was without a doubt one of the best ever! After dark we settled down in the garden for self service libations of Paulaner, Radlers and hard tack.
We popped in here after watching the rafts being dismantled across the road and were amused and enchanted by the garden, with its (semi-hidden) sculptures/ birds on the roof. We sat in the wood circle and enjoyed a beer and then explored the inside where the decor is absolutely fascinating. The more you look the more you find. When I'm next in Munich and enjoying a walk along the isar I'll be back - for something to eat this time. The smoked fish looked appettising.
