This review is based on an invite to attend the Yum Cha Festival held at The Imperial China. This was my first visit to Hilton and I must say I was impressed. Simple and classy ambience with royal looking upholstery and tapestry. I loved the ceiling fan here. It’s so unique. The restaurant is based right near the lobby area and it’s a pretty place. We were here to attend a special dinner arranged for us. They have 3 set menus to choose from, the veg menu, the meat menu and the same food menu. The price of the set menu we chose was 1550 plus taxes. They have an offer, if a guest finishes the entire set menu then they get a 30% off on the bill. Not too sure of the terms and conditions but this is what I assume. We chose the veg menu which had a choice of more than 10 12 appetisers, 3 mains and a choice of 3 4 delicious desserts. Mocktails ————— We tried 3 of them, the lemon and sprite based one, the khus cooler and one was more like a sunset cooler. All were amazing but do try the khus based drink. It is extremely refreshing. Appetisers —————— We had a choice of lovely appetisers like vegetable hot basil, hot potatoes, volcano vegetables, golden pearl, gold coin, veg momo, stuffed okra, tsinghai mushrooms, veg spring rolls, Vietnamese roll, vegetable treasure pouch corn cake. All of these were par excellence and not one let us down. I must add that I loved the serving style. Small plates which served individual portions was a perfect way to enjoy a meal like this. Maincourse —————— We were given a choice of fried rice, jasmine rice, noodles and gravy. We could choose our base sauce and vegetables for the gravy. We opted for the Hakka noodles, fried rice and the manchurian with hot garlic gravy. Food was delicious and I couldn’t stop eating. Desserts ———— We had 4 options, date pancake with ice cream, sago melon pudding, tub tim Grob the honey noodles with icecream which we chose. The dessert was so hearty and soul touching that we decided to call for one more of it. A special thanks to Mr. Nagarajan (Restaurant manager) and our table attendant, Ajit Nair. They made sure to be utmost attentive and the entire team was warm and cordial. I loved everything about this dining experience here and I would love to be back with my entire family someday as I’m sure they would love this too. It’s a place to be relished with your loved ones.
Imperial China An authentic and award winning fine dine Chinese cuisine restaurant that you are definitely going to love it. This was my second visit to this amazing place and it was satisfactory both in terms of food and service. This restaurant is located in famous Hilton Mumbai International Airport Mumbai. The interiors are beautifully decorated with Chinese themed paintings and warm lighting. The soft music adds more stars to the wonderful ambiance. Definitely a recommended place in Mumbai. I recently got my taste buds cleansed with some of their delicacies at Yum Cha Festival has started from 6th September 2019 to 15th September 2019. If I ever plunge into the gastronomical affair, then they were able to satiate my gluttony. Chef Dinesh Mhatre has curated a special Chinese menu to delight patrons. They have 3 Set menus available in the festival namely, Veg Set Menu, Non-Veg Set Menu and Seafood Set Menu at the price range of INR 1550 to INR 2050 plus taxes per person. What I have tried- Chicken Tom Kha Soup: Started with the Soup which was not part of the menu. It was amazing, consistency was too good and mildly spiced with loaded chicken chunks mushrooms into it. Starters: We have opted for Seafood menu. Every menu has 16 starters options you will get which is unlimited. All the starters what I had was amazing specially Prawn Wrapped Roll, Butterfly Prawns, Vietnamese Prawn Roll, Fish Pepper Garlic and Fish Hot Basil. Mains: We had Veg Fried Rice and Prawns Chilli Basil. You can choose from various options whatever you want to. Medium sized prawns really blended well with sauce and tasted so delicious and goes really well with fried rice. Desserts: Sago Melon Pudding: Try this amazing dessert which would not let you stop at one. It was out of the world. The service was prompt and the staff was amiable specially mention of Mr. Ajit Nair. So, if you have not been their yet, what are you waiting for. I would love to visit them again. Cheers!!! My second visit here and totally loved the food once again. I tried their new Chinese New Year Menu and it transported me to China. Loved everything right from soup to desserts. A simple clear soup with udon, broccoli and bokchoy.. really flavorful and perfect for the cold weather. Crispy sweet and spicy fried eggplant.. So so good. My husband said, 'why don 't you make this at home? ' Crispy chilli potatoes.. crisp potato chips tossed with chilli and coriander.. quite good. Cottage cheese and edamame tossed in chilli and peppers.. quite flavorful. Loved it. My son enjoyed it. Vegetable fried rice went well with the beautiful delicious, garlicky and mild Tofu Spinach Gravy and a mild soy chilli Broccoli and Bokchoy Gravy. Loved them. Again a comment from my husband, 'after ages I 've had authentic chinese like how we had back in China ' that 's a compliment indeed. The chilli noodles were to die for. Loved them. Needed no accompaniment. I could finish the bowl if I hadn 't eaten the appetizers. So so good. My husband who usually dislikes noodles loved it too. I was too full and hence did not try the desserts buy I 'm sure they were equally good. Definitely a fantastic place for chinese food lovers. Chinese/Asian food is love. It 's close to my heart. Always on a hunt for good authentic Chinese food. I visited Imperial China yesterday to try the chefs special curated menu. The restaurant is beautiful and well designed. Coming to food, I really enjoyed it! We started with a tom kha soup which was quite flavorful. Well balanced and delicious. The vegetable spring rolls were delicious. Crisp wrapper and a perfect filling of vegetables inside. Yummy. Cottage cheese in a spicy sauce. These were delicious. Cottage cheese tossed in a spicy garlicy sauce. Totally lip snacking. Spinach and Cabbage Dimsums. These were decent. The outer skin could have been softer and thinner. Coming to the mains, Tofu claypot, a delicious black bean gravy with tofu cubes. Flavorful and not very spicy. Perfect accompaniment with the spicy basil fried rice. The basil fried rice was delicious. Spicy and flavorful. Okra chilli basil fry.. these were delicious. Crispy and spicy okras, So so good, couldn 't stop eating them. It was a dry preparation. Can be eaten as an appetizer. Wok tossed baby aubergines.. small eggplants tossed with garlic, spring onions and jalapenos. They were good. Again a dry preparation. A little gravy would have been lovely. But still a good dish. Coconut pudding with a toffee sauce.. perfect, balanced dessert to end the perfect meal. Overall a fantastic meal. 1teaspoonlove recommends Food 4.75/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 Service 4/5 Vfm 4/5 Return Index 4/5
