The whole day hke we chose was about 20 km back to Laguna Torres with Glacier Grande. We hiked along the vertebral column of the rather high slate to a closer point of view of the glacier, near a hiking point called Maestri.(If you want to hike to Maestri, you must register with parking authorities). Stunning prospects and we experienced a huge calving. Plus 3 Condores floated over our heads. On the other side of the shore we discovered a brook and a humble waterfall that flows into it. The weather was on our side with sun and warmth, but comfortable for fleeting hiking. The path was a combination of rocks, dirt, steps, roots, heights and depths, in a forest, through thick bush, sometimes shed open space. Well marked with distances and arrows. The lake is full of ice pieces from Kalvings. The wind got angry at the point that I was almost blown away and the face of my son was wind-burnt. Our hotel Poincenot was excellent. Clean, great amenities and super helpful staff and laundry service for 150 (CLP) Pesos. We ate both evenings st Don Guerrero Restbar just a block away. Excellent food- great presentation and take us to make our orders a bit tweek. Local beer. Super friendly servers and they take credit cards. Nice ambience.
