Newk's Express Cafe - Murfreesboro

Newk’s is consistently one of our top choices! I absolutely love their chicken salad. They offer a great variety of sandwiches, salads, and soups, along with fantastic pizzas. The cakes are amazing, and their Rice Krispies bars are delicious too. The service is always friendly and quick! Located in The Avenue, it's the ideal spot for a break during your shopping spree. Make sure to plan a visit to Newk’s soon for a delightful lunch or dinner!

The food at this restaurant is excellent, but unfortunately, the manager's attitude leaves much to be desired. During my first visit, I ordered my meal along with a small soft drink. When the manager brought our food, she insisted that I hadn’t paid for the drink and stated that the small cups were only for water. I explained that this was what I requested and was given. She then mentioned that the young employee who served me was new and didn't know the policy. Being from Ohio, I wasn't aware of it either. The manager showed me the receipt, making me feel like I had done something wrong. I couldn't shake the feeling that her behavior was influenced by my skin color. I told her this was not my issue, to which she coldly replied that it wasn't hers either. She identified herself as the manager, and I was shocked by her unprofessional behavior. I travel to Nashville four times a year, but after this experience, I will not be returning.

Trip to Murfreesboro today... Good trip except it will probably be my last trip to Newk's at the Avenue. Food was great. Kids first time, they loved it. Sweet tea urns were both on the verge of soured. I told one of the young ladies working. Oh, no! I'll tell my manager. She comes back with another young lady who tastes the tea. They give me sideways dirty looks, pour them together, leave it out to serve, and brew a fresh batch (in the dirty urn). Never came and said a word to me or my table during or after. Come on, guys, train your people with some customer service oriented training! No shade thrown due to age, the whole staff was younger (just a description), which I know is the reality of food service since that's what I've done for 20+ years!

My wife and I both ordered drinks, but the cashier didn't ring them up. When we asked for our cups, she claimed we hadn't ordered any drinks. After clarifying that we had both ordered, she processed our drink orders, and we ended up paying for them again. Additionally, the portion sizes of the food seem to have shrunk while the prices have increased. We used to love dining here, but with the poor service and diminishing value, we might reconsider our visits in the future.

I ordered chicken tortilla soup with no sour cream. I received tomato soup with what I assume was sour cream that had been scraped off the top because it was only on the inside of lid. I also ordered the grab and go protein tenderloin steak. What I received looks like RAW GROUND BEEF. This is beyond disappointing because the last time i order the steak salad I received grilled chicken instead of steak. At least the chicken was edible. Very unhappy with newk's and still hungry!
