The Christmas lights were impressive, but overall the negatives outweighed the positives. I won't go into more detail, as a family member had written a detailed review of their visit in January 2024 that seems to have been deleted by Brookgreen. I agreed with everything they said, and I hope my post won't be deleted either. For reference, their review was three stars and included specific instances.
Although we visited in early March when the foliage was still dormant, driving down the boulevard into Brookgreen was a stunning experience. The sight of the majestic oaks covered in Spanish Moss was unexpected and beautiful. We had a wonderful day exploring the various gardens and admiring the engaging sculptures. The literature mentioned that the current collection includes over 2700 works by 425 artists, many of which were displayed in the gardens or galleries. Our favorite highlights were Live Oak Allie, Diana Pool, the Brown Sculpture Court, Don Quixote, and my wife's top pick, Saint James Triad. Admission is $20 for seniors and $22 for others, and the tickets are valid for 7 days. Even after spending 3 hours there, we weren't able to see everything, so we returned to explore the Lowcountry Trail and the Zoo. The trail follows the route where slaves used to live near the former rice fields. The Lowcountry Zoo was a short walk away and featured birds and small animals in their natural habitat, with the Waterfowl Aviary being a particular favorite. Overall, Brookgreen Gardens is a spectacular place to visit.
I would give this restaurant four stars for its stunning collection of artwork by various artists and the beautiful early spring blooms. The spacious gardens and fountains create a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The trees covered in Spanish moss add to the charm and history of the old South. However, I have to deduct a star because I found the gift shop to be discriminatory towards male customers. The majority of the items seemed to cater to female shoppers, leaving the guys feeling neglected. Overall, this place is a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach.
I visited this park twice and it was so shocking! The first time was to appreciate various plants, smell the faint fragrance of osmanthus, watch the elegant hanging moss swaying in the wind on the tall old oak trees, and the scenery of the rice fields under the setting sun. The second time I focused on appreciating various sculptures, I was moved by the love story of the protagonist couple?. At the same time, I deeply admire Ms. Anna. Her sculptures are diverse, including various wild animals and characters of different shapes, especially The statue of Don Quixote makes me linger. I would like to visit this treasure garden many times when I have the chance to come here.
I went to Brookgreen Gardens during my vacation in Myrtle Beach last year in May. The outdoor American Sculpture museum is huge! I'm the type of person who loves art and all its mediums and this was such a treat. Sculptures displayed in such a breathtaking garden setting as well as viewing many more in galleries and storage facilities. This is a go to every time I think of visiting Myrtle Beach. Will definitely stop by for another visit this upcoming Spring, this time a stroll through the Lowcountry Zoo Reserves. Can't hardly wait!
