The Yum Yum Shop - MURRELLS INLET

I visited the restaurant about two months ago, although I can't recall the exact day. I'm finally getting around to writing my review. It's not a bad experience, but rather just an average one.

I used to visit this place in the early 90s! I came by last summer (2021) and was pleasantly surprised to find it still in operation. I really hope it will still be here when I return in 2023!

I had heard good things about this place. Boy was I disappointed. I took my son and grandkids in there today and the older male employee was so grumpy and rude. The younger female was very sweet. I ordered a banana split which it said had wet walnuts on it. It didn’t and no one bothered to say anything. When I ask him about it he just said we don’t have any and didn’t offer anything else. I wanted to substitute the pineapple for something else but they wouldn’t allow it so I paid extra to get a tiny amount of caramel on it instead of pineapple. No concession for no walnuts though. I basically had three scoops of ice cream with bananas. The only good thing was the fried cheesecake. Don’t waste your money here. There’s so many good ice cream businesses at the beach try another one. If you go here you’ll be disappointed

We stopped by for a quick snack, driven by our positive experience from last year when I had the fried cheesecake, which I was really looking forward to again. Unfortunately, this time was not the same. My husband faced a series of disappointments as several items he requested were unavailable, and it wasn’t until he reached the fried Oreos that he found something he could order. Thankfully, he did manage to get the fried cheesecake. However, the way they packaged everything into to-go containers felt like a hint for us to leave, especially since the atmosphere wasn't particularly welcoming this time around. To make matters worse, my cheesecake was still frozen, which was incredibly disappointing.

New owners need a better process. Took forever to order. No one is in charge. Was my kids favorite place. We won’t be back until they get it together.
