We had previously booked our accommodation at another hotel in Wengen (part of a chain) but wanted something special for our family Anniversary Meal. Chose the Hotel Falken from online recommendation and sent an email. Received a prompt and warm response, a selection of excellent...menu choices and arranged to discuss details when we arrived in Wengen. Met by Jenny Cova, the proprietor’s daughter who made us feel immediately welcome. Chatted over the proposed Anniversary Dinner and the special requirements of a gluten-free meal for our daughter. Tasted the suggested wine and enjoyed a relaxed coffee while we chose the final menu and our table. On the Anniversary Day, the meal lived up to all our expectations. It was superb. Jenny had produced a specially typed menu for the day that said it all. This is a family-run hotel that knows how to welcome guests and provide excellent personal service. We had a look at the rooms and wished we had booked our accommodation there. It seems that guests return year after year. We can see why.
The beef fondue and mussel fondue were amazing here! It came to choose with 8 different sauces, in addition to an option of frits or steamed rice.
A charming hotel. Can be imagined that it has not changed much since the 1930s. Beautiful bar and in high season there is always a pianist who brings life to the hotel. Great for families. Friendly staff, too. I've been back almost every year for seven years.
Good view: You must stop at Wengen! The best if you get your hotel cheaper here than Lauterbrunnen and better views! Many parking at Lauterbrunnen Railway Station 16 CF per day (can be cheaper)
