Fresh and sustainably sourced fish that's in season. Delectable food. The ambience is neat and bright. There's a counter that has the catch of the day. You get recommendations, but make sure you are comfortable with the pricing per 50 or 100 gms. Menu is small but has a good spread to choose from.<br/ In pictures Kari choru , parotta with prawn thokku, fish fry.<br/ <br/ Follow me on Instagram! Username: thehappy_tales [hidden link]<br/
Taste : 4.5/5 ; Ambiance : 4/5<br/ <br/ After my usual January break i did get back to eating out and what better place than Sea Salt which has been in my wishlist since its opening..Though their kari soru and Prawn pepper fry were the items which i wanted to try i was here to experience the Pulicat Seafood Festival happening from the 31st of Jan to the 2nd of feb..This is done is Collab with Chennai Kalai Theru Vizha and InSeason Fish...<br/ <br/ Unlike most festivals that happen just to attract crowd this is a one with a difference..Done with a noble cause to create awareness for protection of Pulicat wetlands..We had a nice chat with Nityanand Jayaram and Chaitanya who talked about the danger these areas are facing and also the need to save our fish resources..<br/ <br/ Enough of the cause now lets come to the food..The Menu is designed By Chef Harish Rao in Collab with fishermen and the women from pulicat region..The Recipes are regular house old ones which are presented as it is..And the Catch are from the Pulicat lake only...<br/ <br/ We did try the Non Veg Thali Pulicat Seafood Thali priced at 595rs..Given below are the details about it..<br/ <br/ We Started of with a yummy Nandu rasam in a small cute tumbler..The Rasam was spicy and peppery and some thing a sore throat will be thank full to..The generous crab pieces in the Rasam were an added advantage..<br/ <br/ As starters there were some lip smackingly good prawn Vada...A bit tangy in taste but loaded with aroma and perfectly fried..<br/ <br/ Next item was the Yera Karakal Which are basically small prawns cooked in loads of sea salt and spices..Served with the skin it was one of a kind experience..<br/ <br/ Lady Fish Fry : A typical fish fry but one thing that stood out was the freshness..Easy to eat due to the delicate meat..<br/ <br/ Mackerel Puttu : A different fish puttu for a change...Loved this one thanks to the well cooked mackerel meat..The taste was really good too..<br/ <br/ As the Main Course there was a tasty Prawn Biryani which i liked very much thanks to its subtle flavoring..The Aroma was mild and had everything i love in a biryani..<br/ <br/ The Gravy section had three distinct ones in the Form of Pulicat Meen Kozhambu, Meen Mitha/Bitta and Nandu Masala..Option to pair it with White Steamed rice each gravy was better than the other..<br/ <br/ The Meen Mitha/Bitta is a usual thing cooked in my home and here it was decent to say the least..Fried fish is tamarind less gravy..Juicy and fresh fish here too..<br/ <br/ The Pulicat Meenu Kozhambu was something i loved the most in the Thali..With a fresh fish here too in a yummy gravy..Paring it with white rice and the puttu was a bliss..Recommended..<br/ <br/ Nandu Masala was good too..With a spicy and peppery masala..<br/ <br/ Prawn Pickle was also served and let me tell you that this was best i have ever had..Loved this so much that we asked if they retail it..<br/ <br/ Some sides on the Thali were a Pudina Chutney and Brinjal Chutney and the Onion Raita..<br/ <br/ The Thali also had a Rose flavored Kheer..Too good..I had subtle sweetness with aptly flavored..<br/ <br/ There were separate desserts in for of Payasam which was a supposed pulicat variant of the kozhukattai payasam..Decent one..Finished off the meal with a Banana..<br/ <br/ IMO this thali was completely worth it..The Festival happening till the 2nd of feb is something worth trying for the yummy food and the noble cause..There are also some musical performance on these days..so book your tables right away..<br/ <br/ As for me i loved the food and definitely visiting again to try some more items for sure pretty soon..Will update once i do that..
Extremely delicious food. Especially ghee roast chicken, Kari choru and tender coconut desserts.!! Also, one of the best services provided by the manager and the waiters!! A must try place!
The seating is simple without too much of detailing. The staff welcomed us with a warmSmile and helped with recommendations for the food. Everything was good except for the squid, it wasn’t as fresh as expected. The top picks is the parotta, madras fish curry and the pepper prawns. Overall a good place for South Indian sea food lovers.
