The amenities are top notch, still with a touch of sweet whimsy. The modern, granite bath/shower, in the Blue Room, was complimented by a beautiful mermaid mural. The mantle was decorated with a charming mermaid fresco. The soft shades of blue made for a serene environment I slept like a baby on the comfy white, wrought-iron bed. Breakfast was delicious! Challah bread French toast with a medly of berries one day, a delicious lobster quiche on another. The Inn is Victorian, the theme is all things mermaid but, the heart of it all is the proprietor hostess, Ms. Josephine! She could not have been more welcoming accommodating. Thank you, Josephine, for a restful rejuvenating stay at your lovely Mermaid Inn!
Beautiful inn with charming mermaid decor and art work. Super friendly host who makes the best homemade cookies and breakfast. Quiet and peaceful and just a few minutes away to shops and restaurants which we easily walked. There was nothing about staying here that we didn't enjoy. We will be back hopefully soon. Thanks for a great stay!
Amazing stay!!! Just what we needed for a mini getaway. Josephine was so sweet and her grandson was very polite. They made sure our breakfast and stay a 10/10. Great walking distance to the main strip of town! (If you're looking for a dinner rec: highly recommend Bravo Bravo and S&P oyster bar). We booked the ivory room which features a king sized bed, smart TV, mini fridge, and large closet. The bathroom was right outside our room (there's a blow dryer so you don't have to pack one). The bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels! Don't want to give away all of the incredible breakfast items but just know it's fresh and delicious! Also, parking could be easy to miss because it's tucked away on the side of the house but available. COVID friendly: hand sanitizing stations and Clorox wipes throughout, everyone wore masks, seating was spaced out and eating times were in 30 minute intervals
A hidden GEM!! Our 4 couples had the whole place to ourselves and it was a perfect get away.. Rooms are super clean and so beautifully done. Each room has it own flare! Gazebo is welcoming and the perfect Perch for a snack or breakfast. Breakfast- is locally sourced and homemade See you again soon
This was the most charming Inn! It was completely enchanting and I honestly can't wait to go back! My husband and I stayed here for only one night while on our Honeymoon in October the Blue Room. Ever since, all we can talk about it coming back and staying for a whole week! From start to finish, everything about the Mermaid Inn is just perfect. My only complaint is that I couldn't stay longer. When we arrived, there was an easy parking lot, next to a Hammock in a green garden that was the stuff of fairy tales. I could have spent my entire trip in their garden! The Inn itself is so beautiful a white Victorian with an old fashioned wrap around porch, and purple details! One of our favorite memories from there was sitting on the porch swing wrapped up in the blanket just enjoying the quiet and gorgeous setting. When we walked in, it was like walking into another world. Admittedly, I LOVE mermaids, so for me, it was heaven. There are mermaid details and murals all over and it's really gorgeous and intricate. The check in process was easy as pie, and the FRESH BAKED COOKIES on the table didn't hurt! There was coffee and tea and anything I could ever want. Like I said, we stayed in the Blue Room, and it was WONDERFUL. The room was just perfect! The artwork was so beautiful and serene, and the view is enchanting. You're treated to Chocolate and Courvoisier in the room, which is a cherry on top. We actually had such a wonderful time, I plan on surprising my husband for NYE with the same chocolate and courvoisier so we can pretend like it's our honeymoon again. This Inn is in the perfect location you can walk everywhere! We walked downtown and had dinner at Anthony J's but to be honest, we didn't even want to leave the room! :P Dinner was amazing (bonus points for being able to walk , a short walk downtown to the mystic seaport for an evening stroll, and we were within a 5 minute walk back to the room if need be. When we got back to the room, there was fresh popcorn on the table, and we enjoyed some charming nostalgia by selecting one of the VHS' from the library and watching it in the room. Remember when you had to rewind movies before returning? :P We only watched half the film before we fell asleep, but we have decided we will not watch it or spoil it and we'll finish it next time we visit. The breakfast the next morning was I kid you not maybe the best breakfast I've ever had. You got to pick what you wanted from a menu and it was made fresh for you, and it was honestly just incredible. She makes her own granola that would have made it a 10/10 alone (I emailed her for the recipe so I can make my own during the holidays! , but she also had fresh OJ, and I had the almond french toast. I wish I could have breakfast there anytime it was soooooooooo delicious. To top it off, as we left, she sent us with a GIFT BAG with fresh cookies, water, and popcorn. This experience went completely above and beyond what I could have ever expected, and I can't wait to go back.
