I’m really glad we chose here, covid procedures where better than we have seen anywhere else. Hotel is a traditional hotel and though furniture is old fashioned it’s in keeping with the style of the hotel, rooms very clean and bed very comfortable. All staff we came across were very friendly and helpful, food quality in hotel was excellent. Rooms were quiet, also free secure parking in hotel car park, would without doubt stay here again as it would be great to see if the hotel was really packed. Hotel has a few bars, restaurant and it’s own coffee shop bakery.
We go to Lawlors quite often because it can always be relied upon for excellent service, delicious food and a lovely relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
Visited today and the organization was excellent. Temperature check and details collected without fuss. Tables nicely spaced and staff extremely pleasant. Felt comfortable and relaxing despite the new normal.
We recently ate in the Bistro for a family celebration. The food was fantastic, however the service was terrible. To start, we were seated a long time before anyone ever came to take our order, new drinks were dropped without the old ones being cleared so the table was nearly overflowing, the waiter was struggling to drop the plates without spilling the food at the table, steaks were dropped and chips followed some time after, we had to ask for steak knives, the waitress leaned over the entire table to clear the mains, the waitress that checked on us was carrying cleaning supplies, no one took our desert order for a long time after we’d finished our mains, we had to grab the attention of a waitress passing to order. When the deserts arrived we had to ask for desert spoons, we were given tea spoons. Our deserts were left on the table long after we’d finished, the manager spent the entire evening walking around texting. When I was paying at the till, i tried to get her attention to discuss, she didn’t acknowledge me, she walked away and continued to WhatsApp away completely oblivious. It’s a real shame because I cannot fault the food, what should have been a wonderful experience turned in to a bit of a disappointment.
Went for mothers day dinner and not happy at all. Ordered battered fish, chips and peas. Batter was cold thick and soggy... Oil obviously hadn 't been heated high enough to cook it... With result the fish was largely inedible. Peas, well peas just weren 't on the plate despite being on the menu description. Waitress saw the plate when collecting and queried it.. I explained that the fish was very poor and largely enidible. She said she would mention it to the manager which I saw her doing. Asked for the bill after, no mention of my issue when it was brought. Dish was on the bill. Manager said nothing and worse as we were leaving, caught my eye and turned away. Do t get me wrong, every restaurant produces a poor dish now and again however it 's the way it 's dealt with that 's important. I see this establishment has recently spent a lot of money on a recent refurb....the phrase all fur coat and no knickers , comes to mind. We won 't be back.
