The duck and salmon were hits at our table. Excellently prepared and presented. Our wine and water glasses were empty but we never felt over served. We always felt like they valued our business. The view was lovely with their gardens and view of Westwood Lake. It was nice to see the deer still visit. The only minor thing was I had mentioned to their staff at least 3 times that it was our daughter's birthday and that when we ordered her dessert that they would please put a candle on the dessert. Sadly, this one detail was overlooked and it was a little disappointing when it arrived. They offered to go and add it after but by then the surprise element was too late. But we will forgive them this one transgression and would not hesitate to come again or recommend it to others for a s special meal.
Seven of us enjoyed a wonderful lunch al fresco in a beautiful setting today. The menu is varied and our meals were all delicious and beautifully presented. We appreciated the use of locally sourced ingredients. This is the most peaceful place to dine in Nanaimo, a little tricky to find, but well worth the effort.
My husband & I were on a walk along the shore of Westwood Lake. My husband suggested that we go & try lunch a Christina's. I declined as I had our lunch prepared at home. But, I took him up on his offer, a couple days later. I made reservation & selected a table where we would like to be seated. When, we arrived, our table was ready for us on the patio. The setting was simply lovely. A keyhole view of the lake was perfectly framed by trees. Bright & cheerful flowers around the patio added to the charm. The servers (2 young women & an older man) all were friendly, welcoming, & helpful. The waiter recommended an organic cider which we enjoyed immensely.I ordered the Fish Taco - Shaved Cabbage, Pineapple Salsa and Chipotle Mayonnaise $15. I had the choice of soup or salad to start. The tomato basil soup was one of the best soups that I have ever had in a restaurant. The depth of flavour & the texture was perfection! The two rock fish tacos were nicely plated on a holder. The fish was perfectly cooked. But, the flavour of Mexico was missing. They were gringo tacos. :)My husband ordered the Local Dungeness Crab Cake, Greens, Pickled Carrot, Lemon Caper Aioli $16. It was very tasty. The ambience, setting, service, food & beverages were all very good. The prices were fair for both the meal & the beverages. The bathroom was a treat with fresh flower and quality of soap & hand lotion. We both look forward to future lunches at Christina's this summer.
When it is time to treat yourselves to an amazing meal this is the place to go! With a beautiful view of Westwood lake and the quiet setting of the tennis club Christina's has the atmosphere where you can dine Nanaimo casual or dress it up (why not.. you deserve it!) From the service to the food it is all amazing. Nigel, aka Dad has a wonderful knowledge of wines and always an interesting tide bit to add. Christina pokes her head out of the kitchen after she has just made you an absolutely amazing mouth watering entree.... fantastic! This is not your typical Nanaimo eatery.... it is far above and beyond! We will definitely be back again.
We had a great date night at Christina's on the Lake. The two of us each tried an appy, main and dessert. Everything was fresh and delicious. Ask to try the homemade limoncello!
