Very hot day (July 11th) the A/C in our section was off “heater” was on!! The waiter apologized mentioned the thermostat was incorrectly set for his section! Throughout our stay, the “thermostat” issue was not fixed!
The food here is consistently delicious—a mix of innovative new dishes and reliable old favorites. The crispy onion rings are a standout, as are the sweet corn tamales. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees (pork chop is especially tasty), and it's almost impossible to choose among the the enticing desserts. Service is attentive but not overbearing. The lively atmosphere and popularity of this place make for a somewhat elevated noise level, but overall a great culinary experience.
It pains me to write this. My mom, dad, and I started going here since the time it opened. It has remained our favorite restaurant in the wine country. My mom and I hadn't been for years and years. My dad passed away in the fall of 2021. We went yesterday (7/1) to celebrate my 50th birthday. The staff was absolutely TOP NOTCH!!! I wish I could single them out by name but they know who they are. The hostess was DEFINITELY THE STANDOUT!! She was so kind from the moment we walked in until the moment she left. She even came over to our table during lunch to acknowledge my birthday and then told me I don't look a day over 35! Ha! On the way out, she said, “Keep on rockin' it at 21!” She's clearly an amazing human being! The world needs more like her. Here's what pains me, my mom's meal. Her favorite has always been the baby back ribs. She was so excited to get them. However, when they arrived, they had large pieces of fat clearly visible and they didn't look at all like the ribs she'd come to know and love. I encouraged her to say something, but she wouldn't. The crust on the lemon-lime meringue tart was also not as flaky as it used to be. She very much enjoyed the salad that went with it as well as the garlic mashed potatoes (she substituted since the menu shows it to be served with cornbread). The wine, too! I loved the mushroom risotto special! Perfection! The tres leches cake special was also amazing! I had the cider and lemon cordial cocktail. Very refreshing! In closing, we will definitely return! We just hope my mom enjoys her meal next time. Thanks again to the hostess!
It had been years since we had been to Mustard Grill. This time the ambient noise was deafening. The service was perfunctory until it was time to pay the bill; only at that point did the server take the time to have a conversation with us of any kind. At this point was clear that he was buttering us up (no pun intended) to get a higher tip. Sadly for him, his extra effort did not succeed.
