Red Rock North is the northern outpost (in a sense) of the Red Rock on Lincoln near Napa High. Apparently there was a connection back in the day. This one is in an awkward shopping center with an equally awkward parking lot. The place was kind of dirty, the service kind of slow... and the fish&chips are meh. I had better seafood at the equally mediocre Quarterdeck in Cape Cod- maybe because they had not only the usual fried fish (Atlantic cod), but oysters, calamari, and shrimp. In terms of this one... it's a trap! It's an OK place. If you want a legit greasy spoon joint with a shorter wait&delicious food, there's Andie's and Buttercream Bakery.
I am relatively new to Napa so I'm still exploring and looking for my local favorites. Finding the best BBQ is one of my missions. On a whim I stopped in and grabbed a pint of pulled pork to go. I got home and added the pork to my hodgepodge dinner. The pork was juicy, almost too juicy and the bbq sauce was okay. I was not offered a selection so I assume they only have one sauce. Due to the fact the place is so close to me, I can't wait to try other items here. Maybe I'll check the ribs out next time.
I have come to this restaurant pretty much once a week since they opened and I have never been disappointed. Paul, the owner, is always friendly right along with his staff. The food is delicious reasonably priced.
I love the Red Rock and I love the back door service. The north location is a good place when you have a group of people or you just want to spread out. This is a better location to take a group of people and still have the consistenly good, quality food, plus it's located on the north side of town. Sometimes parking can be difficult, especially around lunch time when every minute counts. The downtown location can be very busy and this spot is not. The burgers are meaty and juicy. The fries are crispy and hot. The ribs are thick and the sauce is tasty. The salads have real dark green lettuce. The bbq sause is good and the chicken strips are good for kids. There is something for everyone.
