Kaitlyn (if I spelled that right) guided us on an incredible sensory adventure as we strolled through the garden, sampled sunburst tomatoes, inhaled the aroma of lemon verbena, and nibbled on fennel flowers. We did arrive before opening time and were the only guests for a bit, but it was still incredibly memorable. Thank you very much!
The garden was quite lovely! However, overall, it was a little disappointing. I found it to be much smaller than I had expected, and the service was extremely slow. This wouldn’t have been a huge issue, but by the end, we were just kind of fed up with it. I also mistakenly thought the “zero proof tasting” referred to non-alcoholic beer, but it turned out to be juice instead. That might be on me for not reading the details closely enough. Perhaps it would have been a better experience if we had attended an event. Additionally, I didn’t appreciate having to pay for all the tastings before we arrived.
We spoke to the front desk and explained that we had specifically booked outdoor seating and were not interested in sitting inside. They assured us it was no problem, would cancel our reservation, and refund the full deposit of $211. A week went by, and I hadn’t received the refund, so I called St Clair to check on it. The staff member I spoke to reassured me that the refund had been processed and advised me to wait a few more days for my bank to finalize it. Another week passed, and still no refund. I called again, and a different employee told me the same thing—that the refund was being processed and I should receive it soon. To summarize: I never got the refund, and now, two months later, I’ve been told I can use the credit for a future tasting. This is completely different from what I was told both in person and on the phone, where I was promised a full deposit refund. I don’t live nearby, and given this terrible experience, I don’t plan on returning. I would recommend looking for one of the many other, better restaurants in town that offer superior service.
This review is for wine tasting but at the St. Clair Brown cellar. We scheduled a wine tasting here because they are a dog friendly winery and we had our pups with us. While it was a cool sunny winter day, we (and the dogs) were dressed for the cooler weather. We fully expected to be seated outside in the garden but upon arriving a sign by the garden said that the wine tasting would be indoors at their cellar across the street due to the day 's temperature (mid 50s). The cellar was really their indoor brewery location where they had a handful of tables inside and two small tables just outside the door. The brewery was sparse and had an industrial vibe. It didn 't feel like a place to have a wine tasting. Dogs were allowed inside but we chose to sit outside at one of the two small tables. Our server was very nice and provided great service. She was knowledgeable about the small boutique winery. The pickled persimmons were great. Overall, the experience wasn 't bad, but it was disappointing to have the tasting at their cellar (brewery) rather than at their normal outdoor garden and greenhouse. The garden looked well kept, and nice. It didn 't feel like we got the true experience which we were hoping for. Had we known beforehand that the tasting would be at the brewery, we might have gone somewhere else but the wine tasting reservation requires prepayment. If you book a wine tasting here on a cool day, just be aware that they may move the tasting indoors to their brewery rather than at their nice outdoor garden.
Such an awesome place! The drinks are really yummy and great cheeses! The server was amazing, he even let us try various citrus from their garden!
