Tried Cafe Luna at the Ramada Inn for the first time. We LOVED the former Fifth Avenue location. We liked the Vanderbilt Road location pretty well. Last night's experience was quite a letdown. Our server was not very present at all. Had to ask after salad was served for bar drinks. Had to ask for and remind for bread. The food was meh...nothing wrong with it exactly, but nothing great either. I ordered the mushroom ravioli. It was a favorite of mine. But last night's version had soupy sauce and was too bland. Went for the live music...but where we were seated we felt out of it and could not see performer who actually sounded pretty good, just wish we could have seen him. Not sure we will ever go back. New location is 30 minutes away. We have much better restaurants just around the corner.
Best eggplant parmigiana in the world! Great value!
The restaurant offers a special bargain-priced combo menu and a regular a la carte menu. Guests may choose two entrees and a bottle of house wine for $39.99. Two of our party of five ordered from the special menu, and three from the regular fare. Located adjacent to a Ramada Inn, the restaurant has the feel of a motel eating space. The guests, mostly made up of senior citizens from the local community, seemed to enjoy the Frank Sinatra tribute entertainer, but the music, singing, low ceiling, and loud conversation made it difficult to hear table conversations. The service was slow and somewhat confused. Our meals arrived as the crowd began to thin out at about 7:30. Salads were basic. The garden salad consisted of fresh field greens topped by a balsamic vinaigrette. The Caesar was somewhat mundane but sported nice shavings of parmigiana reggiano. One of our party ordered shrimp cocktail. The five shrimps had been frozen and the cocktail sauce was geared to the older crowd with sensitive palates, without much zest from horseradish or Worcestshire. A satisfying portion of Penne with Italian sausage in a pink vodka sauce was the winning entree at our table, but eggplant and veal parm employed sauce that our diners judged a tad bitter, and the accompanying pasta was overdone. An entree salad and chicken preparation rounded out our table's order. Both of these dishes were to the liking of our guests. In all, about what one would expect from the location and value proposition of the dining room. In our opinion, Cafe Luna offered a more engaging experience before it relocated from 5th Avenue, but we would probably visit again.
Food was good and service excellent. They had a great special 40. Two entrees and a bottle of wine. Additionally, other specials for a small up charge.
