Degthai - Nashville

On November 22, 2023, I had the pleasure of dining at Deg Thai at 5:00 pm. The atmosphere was serene, with me being the sole patron at that time. The restaurant's decor transports you straight to a traditional street food hut in Thailand, even though I've never been there myself. The art, street signs, and open kitchen layout all contribute to this authentic Thai ambiance. Deg Thai offers a well-curated selection of traditional Thai cuisine. The menu is impressively straightforward, with detailed descriptions of each dish. It's not overwhelming in the least, and it makes it easy to choose what to order.Upon entering, the staff warmly greeted me at the counter. Here, you place your order, pay, and then receive a number. You then find your table, and once your food is ready, the staff graciously brings it to you. I decided to order a variety of dishes to get a comprehensive taste of what they had to offer. The highlights included the Street Dumplings, OG Pad Thai, and Jay's Special. The Street Dumplings come in an order of four, each filled with shrimp and chicken that's made fresh in-house. They're topped with fried garlic, fresh scallions, and served with a special house soy sauce. The dumplings boast a moist, juicy savoriness with a subtle sweet undertone.The OG Shrimp Pad Thai was my personal favorite. The noodles were cooked to absolute perfection, maintaining a slightly chewy texture. The sauce was the perfect blend of tangy and sweet, and it was generously paired with jumbo shrimp and a side of bean sprouts.Jay's Special is a chicken stir-fry bursting with Thai flavors, balancing salty, spicy, and sweet notes. It's served over a bed of rice, topped with Thai cucumber salad, and every bite explodes with flavors that truly delight your taste buds.My dining experience at Deg Thai was largely delightful. The staff was attentive and always at the ready to answer any inquiries. However, I feel important to mention that the steamed rice did not quite meet my expectations. It had a rather dry texture, almost as if it was undercooked. Parking can also be a bit challenging during peak hours, but these are minor inconveniences when considering the overall experience. Despite these slight drawbacks, I wholeheartedly recommend Deg Thai to anyone seeking an authentic and satisfying Thai dining experience. The authenticity of the food and the warmth of the service far outweigh these minor issues.

A friend and I were so excited to try a new Thai restaurant, and this place did not disappoint! The eating in area is small and smoky from the kitchen smoke, and it made our eyes burn. We decided to live with burning eye’s because the food was excellent. I had the red curry and it was the best bowl of red curry I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to go back again.

The food here is absolutely delicious. I got Jay's Special medium heat. Even though it was a crazy busy Friday night, the staff was patient and friendly. I enjoyed this experience very much. I will be returning soon for sure!

I love Thai food and DegThai is always worth the trip! It 's no surprise they made it on the best of Nashville list. This visit I tried a few new things on the menu (besides the usual Pad Thai which is always a fave). The Kra Prad was delicious with a deep depth of flavor and comes over rice which makes the dish very filling. The chicken fried rice was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Ordered both dishes medium on the spice level and it was perfect for someone who likes heat but still wants the food flavor to shine through.

You know it's good when it's busy on a Monday night. It did make it difficult to find parking since the parking lot is small, but there is additional parking in the back. The food was delicious, I got the Tom yum goong and the Thai iced tea. The iced tea is a must, my friends and I are still raving about it a few days later. The soup was flavourful with just a little bit of a spicy kick which is perfect now with the weather getting colder. The portion sizes were big and it came with a few jumbo shrimp. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Can't wait to come back
