The service was excellent, but the food fell short of my expectations. After reading the reviews, I had high hopes, but I was disappointed after my first bite of the fried chicken, which was completely unseasoned. The mac and cheese was surprisingly better than it appeared and ended up being the highlight of my meal. The cabbage was served cold, but it was cooked to the right texture; unfortunately, it also lacked flavor. While not everything needs to be overly salty, there are plenty of herbs and spices that could have been used to elevate the taste of both the meats and vegetables. The fruit tea was enjoyable, but the caramel cake was not worth the calories. Although the frosting tasted delicious, the cake itself was dry and lacked the moistness I was hoping for. I really wanted to love this restaurant, especially since the owner was so friendly, but I think I will have to search for another soul food spot in Nashville.

If the mac and cheese and dressing aren't made well, then it's not true soul food. I came expecting both, but I only received the macaroni, which I could tell was mixed with stove-top stuffing or regular bread. I prefer my dressing to be all cornmeal. The mac and cheese was passable, but definitely not what I was hoping for in terms of soul food. The green beans lacked any meat or smoky flavor, which also doesn't qualify as soul food. I suppose the food is decent, but it definitely didn't meet my expectations.

The owner truly cares about each customer; she is always helpful and readily available. She was outstanding, taking the time to ensure that every guest felt welcomed and comfortable. Even as visitors, we felt right at home thanks to her warm hospitality. This is an amazing establishment. It's important to continue supporting local businesses like this. The food was definitely southern comfort and absolutely delicious!

As a busy barber H T’s is where I go to get a good soul food plate for lunch ! Service is great , staff is friendly and the food is delicious!

I have known the owner for years . She is the sweetest. The food is like no other I promise. You can taste the love and time they put into the food. The staff is amazing always smiles. This food is truly for the soul.Food: 5/5
