The Chef And I - Nashville

Our favorite restaurant in Nashville; we try to dine here when we visit Nashville. Creative menu, dishes are beautifully prepared and presented attractively. We like the wine list that it has several favorites of us and we were always satisfied when we try something new to us. Service is friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. The display kitchen is much fun that we like to sit on the surrounding counter and interact with the chefs. The new kitchen equipment is divided, they only prepare appetizers and dessert (can be some small plates?l in the main dining room the main kitchen is down, you can watch them on the flat screen and also go down to watch and not as neat as their previous location, where everything was in the dining room, but still pleasant. On this occasion we shared a Granny Smith Arugula Salad (it is huge) and had escaped the Crispy Skinned Duck Breast and Beef Teres Major Steak. Both were perfectly prepared. The duck was prepared with a poblano and ancho salsa an interesting reef which I did not enjoy excessively spicy, but it cannot be averse for the heat. We finished with a Cherry Sauce White Chocolate Bread Pudding. We usually don't dessert, but I'm a bread pudding fan and I'm glad we did.

I tried the duck and waffles, not very tasteful. But the ambience of the restaurant was beautiful.

No warm and welcoming atmosphere. Decor is worn, looks like used Nightclub Furnature mixed with cheap terrace chairs. A sort of disgusting mess. Lighting is on the brighter side. Our waiter was great and the drinks were strong, but the food was just okay. My cauliflower appetizer was tasty and different, but my steak had no taste beside the overwhelming chunky pepper in which it was coated. I couldn't eat it. You have the kitchen on a TV screen?? It wasn't really something I think they should show. It was dark, grungy and not impressive to be nothing too proud by seeing it for customers. I usually do not give bad reviews; but this restorer has a good concept only needs great improvements.

Disappointing! And that’s being nice… I never had an experience this terrible that costs that much. When you doing a tasting menu, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for for few simple things… like when the person that delivers the food to at least tell you what’s in it right? Or bring your wine with the food it supposed to go with? Or having the food be looked and taste at least average? Terrible service! Bellow average food! Laud ambiance! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY and more importantly DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Enjoyed the ambiance and food! Had 7 course meal. Our waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. We enjoyed watching the chefs cook and the food came out timely! Very delicious!
