Visit here during a cruise. They say the “Fish Fry area is the place to go if you want good, fresh and authentic Bahamian foods and I must agree. It is a strip of restaurants that all things Bahamian from fresh fish to peas and rice and bbq. I tried a place called Big Yard. The food was DELICIOUS! Service fast and friendly and very strong drinks. I fried cheese and Cole Slav with Mac n. Conch was fresh and they have someone the fresh conch salad as you order and can watch, hack and prepare them. Definitely recommend.
This place is underestimated! I think it's one of the best local restaurants. I was tempting and oh andros, but they have the best cones. It was super crispy, even if we ate it later in the night (approximately an hour later after the purchase.) The potato salad was also really good. Defend them!
Here we always eat when we eat in Nassau and at the Fish Fur. We were in most restaurants on the fish frit, many are very good. The Big Yard has become our favorite. Lillian, the owner, treats us like royal property, remembers us and seems always grateful for our business. I had many things from their menu, but now we get only conch conk) fritters $5.00) and a tropical conch salad $17.00). That's a lot for two people. Many people will try to get you into the different restaurants, not be deducted from it. That's how they live.
You have to go to fish fry when visiting Nassau ! If you want local cuisine , if you want to bump elbows with the local , and experience that island vibe , then you must try out fish fry street , it’s a street with local vendors and pubs and restaurants with all types of local fresh food , absolutely amazing , people are amazing , you can get there by bus or cab , if your coming from downtown Nassau cans should be no more that 10 bucks , there everywhere , if you take the bus which is my recommendation, just ask a local where you can catch the bus going to fish fry they will be more than happy to help , local busses are blue with a bit of green not very big more like a jitney , it will run you $1.50 one way they have change and accept American money so no worries and it’s maybe a 5 minute ride , my recommendation go to Goldie’s ! And sit by the water you won’t regret it!!!
