Ireland is a country steeped in history, dating back 5,000 years. Our interest in this rich history was piqued after reading “Ireland, a novel” by Frank Delaney. This led us to book a tour during our recent visit to Dublin, only a 30-minute drive away. The tour took us to a prehistoric site with four circular structures, primarily used for burials. The main structure features a shaft that lights up during the summer solstice. Surrounding the structures are large boulders brought from other areas, adorned with symbols. The hour-long tour was fascinating and highly recommended. It is wise to book in advance as tour sizes are limited and in high demand.
I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy history and archaeology. The small group tours not only help with conservation and protection, but also enhance the overall experience.
My favorite place to visit in Ireland. Antiquity beyond the imagination. I was left with thoughts questioning the meaning of what I had just seen.
We were so moved by Newgrange and Knowth. These mystical, ancient burial places, of which so little is known, are fascinating and magical. The guides are knowledgeable and fun.
