First of all, they had the outside take away window shut so the queue inside was huge. They were serving both eat in and take away from the same queue, which caused lots of confusion. One lady even tried to walk straight in front of...my friend and skip the whole queue because she was sitting in (so were we). BUT the worst thing was the rudeness of the lady on the till. I had mis-read the sign, thinking there were wraps available so asked for tuna and sweetcorn wraps. She snappily told me, no wraps, only sandwiches. I said oh sorry, I thought the sign said wraps but sandwiches are fine. She then stomped over to the sign, pointed at it and rudely said something to prove that I was wrong. The sign had the word wrap on it (something about who packages the sandwiches- why this is on the sign, I do not know I had young children with me and I had read it from in a very busy queue so just saw the word wrap and misunderstood- a simple mistake. I was happy with a sanswich and had already said that was fine and was perfectly polite. There was NO need for her stomping off to make a point. I had already waited an incredibly long time due to the choas and she was just making myself (and everyone behind me) have to wait even longer. I had actually wanted to order some fruit and crisps for my daughter but I was so appalled by her rudeness, I just paid and spent less money!!! I bring my children to Lepe regularly and use the cafe but the chaos and service I experienced today has seriously made me reconsider whether I will bring my own food in the future- what a shame.
Called in for a sandwich and cup of tea after a walk along the beach. There was a single queue for east in and take away and it was very slow moving. When you finally got through the door you are told to queue alongside...the fridges containing sandwiches, juices and drinks (which all open into the customer queuing area) and then pay at the till. I went to take a sandwich from the fridge and order my tea at the counter like most self serve cafes. I got told off that it “was not self service”. There were no signs indicating this. It turns out you have to get to the till, tell them what you want and they fetch it for you. As there were no signs, I guess you are just supposed to know? While waiting, a few other customers fell foul of this not sure why it’s in place just makes more work for the already hard-pressed staff and no other self serve cafés I’ve been to recently do it. Rather than the sandwich, I opted for a bacon roll. After paying, this took another minutes to turn up. Not a great experience and staff were curt. Disappointing.
My family and I waited in line for 30 minutes on New Year's Day, only to be rudely shouted at by a woman when we finally reached the front of the queue. "We are closed now, goodbye," she said. The service was absolutely terrible, especially considering the early closing time. Who can I file a complaint with?
Haven't even for a while mainly because they stopped serving cream with coffee.. Anyway friendly waiter wiping tables but our table top looked horrid (number was very badly stained with coffee /tea rings etc It had been wiped down but definitely needs some bleach...and/or scrubbing!! Soup was very tasty though.
