All staff were friendly, helpful and relaxed but professional. The meal itself was superb. I can honestly say that I have never experienced a better beef carpaccio than the Black Angus Carpaccio served up to me, and the Beef Cheeks main course was mouth watering. The white onion soup and squash tortellini were equally well received. We'll definitely be coming back when next in the area!
The venue and our room were very nice; great facilities, but not cheap so expected. We found the food disappointing however. We had booked 2 dinners and breakfasts and were underwhelmed with both the quality of the food and service. The breakfast bar was often empty of fruit and pastries which needed requesting to top-up on more than one occasion. The sardine starters for dinner were not particularly meaty and on a thick soughdough bread which you could not cut easily. Our mains were average in terms of both quantity and quality; meat tough. Service was mixed; some staff were helpful and cheery, others were surly to the point of rude. So disappointed were we with dinner that we chose to eat elsewhere on the second night. Much better. Probably not again as expensive and poor food.
What a fantastic hotel. First time staying at a Pig and would definitely go back. Staff and service was first class. Bar staff were superb even preparing a special cocktail for my husband which was not on the menu. Food was delicious. From check in and the warm wemcome we received we knew we were going to have a fabulous time.
Came to The Pig on a sunny Friday and it was amazing, loved our time here. Food was great, service was excellent, will definitely be back!
We had a lovely lunch today from their 25 mile menu. Absolutely delicious. Lots to choose from, we started with nibbly bits with our drinks, lovely selection of gins available. Starters and then main courses. Food very nicely paced, not rushed at all and service was lovely, attentive but not too much. Our pork and beef choices were delicious. Too full for dessert, but nothing really caught our eye anyway. So we left the table and had our coffees in their lovely bar lounge area. A real treat of lunch, not cheap but very nice for an occasion. We had great table by the window in the conservatory, lovely tranquil views. Grounds and surroundings are truly lovely.
