Being familiar with Houston's from our hometown of Houston, we quickly made an online reservation as we arrived in NOLA. We had a 3:45 pm reservation but arrived at about 3:15. As we waited, we enjoyed delicious cocktails at the bar. We didn't have to wait long, thankfully. We were seated at a table with a gorgeous view of the street. Our server, Eli, was lovely. He was on point all around with the menu and service. We started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip, which is ALWAYS our favorite! Then, we ordered our filets. They were tender and cooked to perfection. As always--we absolutely love everything about Houston's. Although Texas didn't get the win, supper at Houston's was a win for us!
Way to snooty for me. Spilled wine on table. Bus boy was as dry as the wine. Server had the personality of a bounce dryer sheet.. Steak was juicy. Fries cold The manager was a total jerk because we definitely witnessed 2 other men wearing a hat in the restaurant, my husbands was off the entire time, he ended up putting it on because the bus boy spilled our entire glass of wine that was about to be on my husbands hat. So of course his initial reaction was to put it on. Ugghh such arrogance! The best part was the Security! He is ao friendly and warm!
Consistency is key to me and I love this place. You can always count on good food, good service, ambiance and location is great with ample parking available. Evening live jazz music adds to the vibe of this local fav located on St. Charles Avenue. If you know this chain, you know they are famous for their spinach and artichoke dip, oysters, smoked salmon dip appetizer (sauce is delicious), ribeye (Hawaiian style, so Yummo), fresh catch of the day topped with shrimp and I always get the kale salad on the side (flavors poppin) and their ribs Omg they just fall off the bones. My posts are very high level, a snapshot of my favs honestly and a few new venues sprinkled in and want my reviews to provide you with enough info to try the venue and form your own opinion from the eyes of a local foodie. It's all about the vibe, flavor and color of the venue for me. Only in Nola!!!
I recently visited Houston Restaurant with my infant baby and was discriminated against by the staff. Despite having a reservation where I mentioned I was bringing my baby AND being paying customers, we were made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable due to our baby's presence. This type of discrimination is unacceptable and I urge the restaurant to review their policies to ensure all customers are treated with respect and dignity.
Not what I expected for a fine dining establishment that everyone has been bragging on. I love steak and this is the first I have only taken a few bites of and gave my leftovers away. It was sweet and steak shouldn't (in my opinion) be marinated in anything sweet. Next I left my grandma's shawl and we were the last ones there. Called at 9a and no one turned it in. It was a expensive shawl and I'm disappointed that it wasn't turned in. It was my first time and last time eating here
