The food was not your typical Indian fare - it was more refined and elegant. I couldn't decide on a dish, so I let the chef surprise me with their flavorful creations. I enjoyed a banana appetizer, a spicy salad that paired well with the pork and shrimp dishes, and a delicious mango-based cream soup. Overall, the food was amazing and definitely worth a trip across the river. And, to top it off, the staff were friendly and welcoming.
OMG. I had the BEST birthday lunch here! The fried fish was probably the best fried fish I’ve ever had in my life! We also had the banana chaat and the chicken wrap which were to die for. They are also so accommodating. We brought our toddler with us and even provided a sippy cup. Gotta love family friendly restaurants, especially those with amazing chef and staff. We are coming back the next time we’re in NOLA for sure!
I'm not sure why this restaurant has such high ratings. Despite the cute atmosphere, the food was not good. I ordered the shrimp Kati roll, saag paneer, Naan, and the Caipirinha. All of the dishes were excessively oily. The Naan had a pool of oil on it when it was served. The presentation was lacking. The drink tasted very sour, like sucking on a lemon. The Kati roll had an overwhelming amount of dill and cilantro. As an out-of-towner, I was disappointed as this was our last dinner before leaving. Perhaps we just caught them on a bad night, but based on my experience, I would not recommend this place.
The food was /excellent/ and the service was great! Limited menu (if you have a classic Indian dish you're looking for, they are unlikely to have it; we asked for any saag dish, and were out of luck). But they have very possibly the best Naan I've ever had, and any shrimp dish is highly recommended! I guess we has the shrimp balchao, which was luscious! They use /gorgeous/ local shrimp, and it really shows! Pork appetizers was very tasty but very salty get it with Naan or rice. Great for a small party looking for an out of the way place.
I work near Plume, so we eat there often. I have never had a dish I didn't enjoy! The Banana Chaat is delicious. Their Appom and Naan are fantastic, and the Pork Axione is one of my favorites. I recommend following their suggestion to cross the bridge and visit this hidden gem of a restaurant. If you enjoy Indian food, you will not be disappointed.
