The place wasn't packed, but it had a decent crowd, and more people were coming in as I was there. The bar area was fairly busy. The decor is appealing, and I enjoyed the reggae music playing in the background. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they definitely don't skimp on the alcohol in their cocktails. The food is truly excellent. I started with crab lobster rolls as an appetizer, and for my main courses, I had oxtail with rice and peas on one visit and fried chicken with mac and cheese on the other. Everything was delicious. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is that the portions are a bit small for the price. However, I would definitely return.
As for parking, there’s plenty of municipal parking available within three blocks, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a spot. I parked on the street for three hours and it only cost me $4.
I made reservations for my family and me while we were visiting from South Carolina. The atmosphere is outstanding. We ordered the rum punch, which was the best I've ever had. We also enjoyed the red snapper, macaroni and cheese, and rice and peas, all of which were excellent, especially the macaroni and cheese. Our host provided exceptional service. Overall, I rate it 10/10 for the experience and 5/5 for the food.
The only problem I encountered was that our original waiter disappeared without informing us that he had a larger table to attend to. However, the excellent food and drinks more than made up for it. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the food was delicious.
When the waiter came to our table, I pointed out that my salad was missing apples and cranberries, and had barely any cheese. He corrected me by saying that the shredded veggie I thought was cucumber was actually apple, but he ignored my comments about the missing cranberries and cheese and quickly walked away, essentially dismissing my concerns. When the bill arrived, I was pleased to see they had a QR option for payment, allowing us to avoid waiting for the busy waiter, who had been neglecting our table. After I completed the payment and we started to leave, the waiter rushed over and grabbed my boyfriend somewhat aggressively (though he quickly apologized) to inform us that the Apple Pay system wasn't working at that location. I showed him the notification confirming the charge had gone through successfully, and we ended up waiting about four minutes for them to acknowledge that I was correct. There were no apologies offered. While the location is nice and the food is decent, this experience has made me reconsider hosting a brunch here for my girlfriends.
