Lots of seating for different size groups without feeling cramped. I started my breakfast off with cappuccino topped with cinnamon. For my meal I had the skirt steak accompanied with eggs and home fries. I requested my steak cooked medium which is was! The eggs lacked flavor, home fries were well done as requested the steak was ok. I wasn't impressed with the meal itself but I do appreciate the steak and home fries being cooked as requested. My waiter was such a nice gentleman. He periodically checked in on us making sure we didn't need anything.
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The staff are very friendly. I ordered the chili which was very tasty but the temperature could have been a lot warmer. I also ordered the bruschetta which was just ok, it wasn't authentic and the bread wasn't crisp. However it was edible and I know the ingredients were fresh, nothing was stale. I will give the Mirage another try and I love the outdoor dining it's a pity winter is coming. Forgot to add they do make good mixed drinks.
The Mirage Restaurant is across the street from Iona College so it was crowded with students. We ordered 5 dishes to go and all were terrible. Mac and cheese (overcooked pasta), mango salmon salad (they didn't put the salmon in and put extra mango when we asked them to omit it), chicken salad (dry chicken), hot dog with fries (cold tasteless fries, overcooked hotdog) overly salted lentil soup. we feel sorry for those Iona students..... On the bright side, when we called they took off the salmon salad price and 10% off the bill. Will not give them our business again. Money wasted.
Decent place for reliable food and options for American fare. You can usually fond a coupon for a discounted meal on wither local eats or periodically in the mail if you love in the area. I order take out from her time to time and the dining space is pretty nice too. But there is just one thing: the french onion grilled cheese I had the other day was underwhelming. I wish I could send them a picture of what caramelized onions looks like, because my sandwich game with cooked onions, not caramelized as described on the menu. Not the same thing. Solitary tear....
I had the skirt steak n' eggs a couple of months ago and it was great. Tried it again yesterday except with the strip steak and was very disappointed. The meat was gristly and tough with hardly any flavor. For 22 bucks you should get at least choice grade beef. The scrambled eggs and hashed browns were good.
