I would not recommend in all this restaurant, il they stay better in the hotel to go to another place to dinner.
Oh my goodness, my partner and I went to lunch at noon. It was our first time visiting the Brandon Court Hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The food was terrible - the calamari was undercooked, the crab claws were overdone, the fish burger was tasteless, and the salads were bland and cold. The cheese cake with ginger nut biscuit was also not good. The sauvignon blanc wine was undrinkable for my partner. The service was chaotic, with young workers who seemed untrained and lacked direction from a manager. Several customers had to wait a long time to be served, and some even left without ordering. It was clear that there was a lack of proper training for the staff. In times of pandemic, when every euro counts, it is important for businesses to meet certain expectations. The overall experience was disappointing, and I feel compelled to write this review. The restaurant management needs to address these issues and improve the quality of service and food.
Although I read a negative review about the seafood at this restaurant, I decided to give it a shot and ordered the seafood cake. Unfortunately, I found it to be strange and unpleasant. The seafood had an odd texture and was bland. There was even a strange pink fish in the dish that the waiter couldn't identify. It's disappointing that the seafood wasn't up to par, especially considering how close we are to the sea. However, my companion enjoyed his t-bone steak, so perhaps it's best to avoid the seafood options here.
We went there for a family celebration. We had the seafood starter, very disappointing seafood given the proximity to the sea. The plate included crab-sticks, over-cooked mussels, tiny tiny prawns and was accompanied by a huge bowl of a strange yoghurt-like dip'. The duck was...really tough, we considered asking for a steak knife. The vegetables were truly the worst I've had for years, viciously over cooked carrots, turnip and maybe parsnips, sitting in approximately of oil, dripping, literally, with oil. The fries were large and mostly undercooked. Dessert, the apple tart was pleasant, the rhubarb dessert lacked rhubarb. We asked for hot water in place of tea for one of our party. The water was tea-stained indicating that the teapot hadn't been properly rinsed out. The lady who looked after our table in the dining room was extremely pleasant and was really the only positive part of the experience.
We visited the Brandon House Hotel bar for food on a Saturday around and it was not busy at all. I had something from the carvey and my wife ordered a wrap and some sausages for my year old. The wrap and sausages...took at least minutes to come and by that time I have finished my meal. There was no apology from the staff over the delay. Overall the food was nice, just a shame about the service and the delay to the food.
