One of the best Malaysian restaurants we have eaten at. We started with rote chanai, then Penang Laksa (would have preferred the Singapore Laksa but made the mistake when ordering!), Char Kway Teoh, and Murtabak. Big servings, excellent staff.
I knew they couldn't cook decent Hainanese Chicken Rice when i saw big chunks (showed kitchen laziness) of white meet! Chicken Rice is best with dark meat. Plus they served a side curry vegetable dish with it! This doesn't happen in any Malaysian eatery! I couldn't finish the disastrous dish. By the afternoon, a couple or three hours later, i felt really uneasy in the stomach. By evening i had cramps! The next two days i Saturday on the potty a lot with the runs. I lost two valuable days of work as a result. I hope this restaurant knows what they cause. And British Columbia Health, how the heck do I report such?By the way last week was my wife's victimization by Neptune Noodles at Burnaby Station Square. She had fried daikon cakes!
Back at this restaurant after a long while. Servers very friendly. Booked a table ahead although place was not very busy on a Sunday night. Street parking available but wish they had free customer parking. Food still good as I remembered it. Started with roti canai and chicken satay. Beef rendang and Hainanese chicken were at the top of our list - although chicken rice tasted a bit dry.
I had a craving for singapore laksa and love Banana Leaf's version. I was disappointed when I had it for lunch here. Too much broth, too little filling. Didn't feel satisfied. Oh well.
