(I'm from the Bronx) Do not believe everything you see on social media. It's so out of place in such a cool neighborhood. The food had no spice for a restaurant claiming to be Mexican. I've never had tacos so bad as their hibiscus tacos. I don't know, but at least try to welcome vegetarians with flavor instead of whatever that was. Not even the happy hour prices are worth it here. My server didn't even care to ask why I left half my food untouched. Ugh I wish I could turn back time.
Love this spot! Reviews for separate visits: mezCALL me a cab after this happy hour @casamezcal has some great deals during happy hour like their classic margaritas. And if you post them on @instagram while you’re there, you get a free shot! Not sure what the blood red shot was but it was a sweet contrast to the perfectly tart marg. Plus the chicken tacos are pretty dang good! In queso you forgot… @casamezcal is the best Mexican restaurant around! I was invited for a dinner and mezcal tasting and got to try so many items from their menu I hadn’t before and each one was absolutely amazing! The staff took amazing care of us and they will amazing care of you too! Appetizers • Esquite fesh corn, epazote aioli, tajin, cotija cheese (similar to an elote but off the cob) • Guac Totopos chips guacamole • Queso Asado grilled cheese, salsa verde, hoja santa, pico de gallo Entrees • Azteca Cake layered corn tortillas, grilled chicken breast, onion, covered with Oaxacan mole, sesame seeds, avocado • Barbacoa de Borrego puebla lamb stew with chile guajillo, with house made corn tortillas, salsas Mezcal Tasting We got to try 3 of the 300+ mezcals that they have! It was so cool and informative to learn about them. Each one was so unique in both taste and history • @mezcalcasaantigua the first of the artisanal of the ones we tried and probably my favorite of the 3. I had a more mild taste than the others and was recommended to be used for cocktail mixing • @mezcalherodes this brand was started by a French wine maker who moved to Mexico and fell in love with mezcal. It’s the perfect love story. This brand aged their mezcals in similar barrels to the wine which gives it the full bodied flavors • @mezcalrompecorazon the only reposado mezcal we tried. It was fruitier than the others since this one is aged longer than the others in bourbon barrels and absorbs the sugars, which is also how both reposado tequila and mezcal get its darker color. Also this is the first and only OU certified kosher mezcal! Dessert •Churros Thank you for having teaching us! Drop it like it’s hot (cakes) Because the hot cakes at @casamezcal have a surprising fruity Mexican twist! They corn hot cakes with lime zest, served with a strawberry sauce. Plus their huevos divorciados (yes, divorced eggs) are awesome as well one served with mole and the other salsa verde, with rice and beans on the side. Plus we ordered some margaritas. Great brunch menu! The only thing I wish there was, was more food!
Stopped here for drinks before a dinner reservation nearby. I wish we would’ve made reservations here instead! I loved the decor and my spicy margarita was delish.
Was sat outside and the waitress completely forgot about us. She never came back to our table and we had to go inside to ask to order. I got my drink after our food came. Then they never cleared our table. 2 hours later we had to go back in to ask for the bill. The bill had 4 wrong over charge items on it, 2 extra cocktails and 2 extra tacos making it $50 more than what we ordered. They had to charge and void my friends credit card 3 times before getting it right. The manager was practically yelling at us... his breath very clearly smelled like booze. This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant, the first time was great but I will not be returning. The food and cocktails were good which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1.
DO NOT COME HERE !!!!! I came here on Thursday 3/31 and the receipt for my bill 89.27 I have it in my hand see attached pictures HOWEVER they charged my credit card 105.67 and I have been calling since Friday and leaving message and they keep telling me we will call you back in a few minutes the manager stepped out. This is ridiculous and it’s fraud you can’t give a receipt for one price and then charge me something else and on top of that the food was mediocre. My classic margaritas were good but the place was dirty with terrible service it took 15 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us. I would never ever step foot in this place RUN RUN RUN I will write a review every day on every platform because you cannot scam people this is ridiculous please do not come to this restaurant they should not be in business. UPDATE! The owner just called me a few minutes ago and told me that I checked the 20% box on my receipt that I did not get a receipt with the tip amount included because they don't do that in the USA and while I was explaining to her that I did not check any boxes and left a $20 cash tip because I don't tip via card ever because I want to make sure the server actually gets the tip and the whole time this lady was laughing at me I LOST IT how can you laugh at a customer and blame them for their bad experience that is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and of course now that I'm writing reviews I get a call also very UNPROFESSIONAL.TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHER. UPDATED AFTER OWNER RESPONSE ! I never called and insulted anyone I simply said I had been calling for days without being helped also I did not regret my tip The point is that I tipped in cash not on my card PERIOD there was no confusion on my end I love how this business continues to blame the customer
