We had a fantastic supper at La Goulue, a highlight of our weekend in NYC. The staff were wonderful and very welcoming, and the food was incredible especially the risotto! Thank you for helping us celebrate a very special evening
How the mighty fell....might best describe this sad shadow of a once big restaurant. what happened to the pulsating staff, the milieu of excitement and panache, eating and bonhomie. I felt like I was present in the last days of the older friend who had exhausted, ennui and abandoned. uninterested staff at the reception are more interested in talks than take care of customers. try to check in dumb and skewed, were with bad humor and as if this was an inposition. (No, I will keep my coat, which I like to eat in it and use the scare as serviette) a waitress, which besides forgetting the wee, throwing the cutlery on the floor and repeated (as in perseverance) ask if everything seemed to be in order, from the central casting in a restaurant comedy. moderate eating at a very high value (sic) of servers with the remarkable thumb in the scurry technique and the interest and style of the child forced to do homework or someone at zombie level tranquilizers. in the past I would try to eat here 2 3 times in a week, so was the excitement and delight of the place. now dreary, downscale and hum drum (ephasis on hum.) as a value for the eleganti very low. as an exciting bon vivant evening... better to stay home and hear the mozart requiem while sleeping a 15-year-old mccallan and remembering remembrances of the memories of the pastness of the times. the only hope for this place is a madelaine transfusion (call proust 911) or invite toulouse loudrec to inspire. rip la goulue. distributed, but not yet restricted. please send them only confused flowers ....
Outstanding as usual! My husband and I both had the Dover Sole beautifully prepared and served alongside yummy fingerling potatoes, paired with the wonderful French white burgundy! Dessert was a delicious apple tarte tatin and incredible macaroons. As an added treat we were served a glass of champagne for a lovely Holiday treat. Thanks to all who own and serve here best bistro outside of Paris.
Our second experience here. We found staff to be friendly and attentive, and genuinely concerned and appreciative of our praise. The food was excellent and comparable to any we’ve had in the city. Five stars across the board!
