Amazing flavor combinations, beautiful plates, and every bite was curated to perfection. Everything we ate had us speechless and nodding at each other making while sounds of enjoyment. Then to top everything off the service was just as on par. Each person that stopped by our table was knowledgeable and professional, but still had that touch of personality that made us feel like we had been to Luthun dozens of times, and we were basically family. The wine pairings were immaculate and truly brought out all of the flavors of every dish. I am rooting for them to achieve their Michelin star because it is ever so deserved. Will definitely be coming back for more than just special occasions.
The service was inefficient and slow because they were trying to serve 2 times more customers that their service capacity. Food was nothing special for the price: only 2-3 of the courses ware very good. The alcohol markup is ridiculous: you have to pay $150 including tip for a $25 wine.
Indescribable. I have (and probably will never) had a dining experience like this. Epitome of “Dinner is not what you do in the evening before something else. Dinner is the evening”Firstly the food was incredible, each plate was so well curated and delivered and the flavors were so so wonderful and exciting. Every plate was materially different than anything I’d experienced before and it truly exceeded my expectations.Additionally all of the staff were so lovely, at these types of restaurants it can be quite intimidating but I deeply appreciated how down to earth and approachable they were! Every conversation/interaction was so easy and lighthearted. Will be recommending Luthun to anyone hoping to experience an incredible chef’s table experience! I am sure they are going to continue to gain popularity and eventually some !!!!Some notes…they do have a full wine list (and we had the best wine I’ve ever tasted), if you don’t want to do the pairing. This is also not a cheap experience but I felt it was worth every penny and I am eager to visit again.
The food was great! We snagged a last minute rez. We did the 9 course tasting menu and the first 3 courses were mind blowing and the next 6 were amazing, but not as good as the first 3. The dessert was very disappointing though- not very sweet and had something bitter on it. The wine pairing was disappointing- the wines were great but the amount was very small and a lot of time we had an empty glass or no glass, which is not how a wine pairing should be. The add on of the Japanese milk toast was AMAZING- you can definitely split it between 2 people. All in all, you are in NY and looking for a NY tasting menu at a low price point this is a great spot, but skip the wine pairing and get a bottle of wine.Vegetarian options: It was mostly vegetables
This is one of the best meals I've had in New York City, which is saying a lot because I'm a long time resident. We did a 6 course tasting menu but when we go back we'll do the 9 course! and the food was nothing short of spectacular. I learned after the meal that the chef is Indian Persian and trained in Switzerland so he has this incredible breadth of knowledge of food from around the world and it really shows. The space is lovely and the service was truly outstanding. The entire staff was so knowledgeable but also friendly and charming. What a meal!
