The miso glazed Chilean Sea Bass in particular was excellent, as was the salmon teriyaki. We found Mizumi to be a great environment for my daughter, who is a picky eater but was able to try lots and lots of different Japanese dishes.
The sushi and shashimi offerings were excellent. Fresh, clean nicely presented. The salad and dessert sections also wonderful. I would have liked more cooked fish entrees available. I was very happy to see an eel sushi tasteď great...Raw clams, squid sushi and fried Calamari tasted great ! The salmon shashimi was excellent.Price was fair for the bountiful food they have for you. Thank you.
I heard that this place has changed back to an old-style buffet, so I went there yesterday because it reminded me of the delicious beef I had before. It was around 1pm, and except for the sushi and some fish, almost all the food was what looked like tiny scraps of leftovers. The bulgogi was cold and dry in a 6-inch frying pan, and the grilled pork was finely chopped and charred black and it was on your fingers. I barely chose one size and ate it. There were less than 10 pieces of fried food, so I waited for another refill, but there were no refills until the end. I went there expecting a delicious lunch, but after paying a fair price, I felt like I was begging for food. It was very unpleasant. It was a restaurant I liked... but it changed to a place I never want to go to again. I was really disappointed.
Do not come!! Sea food is not fresh at all!! My family and I came last Friday, and the day later, all four of us got food poisoning! We had diarrhea, felt nauseous, and vomited. Do not go!!! Especially don’t eat the oysters!! If you have this amount of money, go to a clean restaurant.
Used to come here often and the place was poppin. I remember having to wait a little while to be seated due to the high volume of customers. It was my favorite place to eat with my family and friends last year and we frequented it regularly. To my disappointment the quality has changed drastically. Drove all the down to celebrate my graduation with my husband. We were at first surprised because they had replaced the hot pot with a regular buffet style, but i was nonetheless happy because they had expanded their selection of sushi and introduced some new items. Which i used to love, so we decided to stay. We were instantly seated and the place was surprisingly empty, especially being a warm Friday night. We grabbed two plates of sushi and a plate of hot food to try. I immediately lost my appetite; the sushi was very dry and tasted old, and had no flavor but at the same time tasted strange. My husband said the hot bar food was cold. We debated whether to stay or not to give it a try, but just from the few pieces of food we got had made us lose our appetite. We brought it to our waiters attention of the change of quality, and my husband asked for a discount on the food since we had only three none full plates of food and had been there for only about 10 mins. He instantly accused us for not wanting to pay! In which my husband immediately clarified that was not the case, we were fine paying the full price but did want to know if something more could be done. The manager acted much the same and claimed there were a hundred people within the restaurant, but it was more like 4-5 families there with kids at most, there were 30 people there. And that there were no other complaints which must of meant ours were invalid? Which i found rude; people usually don 't complain about restaurants but they do not come back instead in my eyes. I took time to look around and there were not many people there nor did many people have much food on each of their tables. It looked like most people there weren 't enjoying their food either, but most likely just decided to eat because, as the manager put it, its a buffet, theres nothing they can do once you eat something . The manager said he would try the sushi to see for himself but I didn 't see him pick up a piece to even try. If he did try a piece, he failed to mention how it tasted to him (very interesting) and just told us he could comp the drinks. So, we took the L and paid about $90 cash for the food and left quickly after (mind you we could have stayed to continue to eat but the food tasted that bad). Which is fine lesson learned. In conclusion, this place has changed for the worse, the management lacked understanding and attempted to gas light us about the quality of the food; by attempting to invalid our experience by comparing us to other customers presumed experiences, which a simply statement of policy would have been enough for us. Even tried it himself but failed to tell us whether it was good or bad. We got accused of not wanting to pay by our waiter after explaining the issue, he acted quite aggressively despite us being more than cordial about it. The food tasted old like it had been out for too long, and the sushi all tasted the same with badly textured rice; i had better quality salmon at buffets that cost $15 per person vs $45. Because of this experience i will have tell others to stay away and spread the word to my friend and family that this place is not the same. My whole family had plans for a gathering here but we will have to cancel with how things turned out today. I wish they would go back the old way or choose better quality ingredients for their food, and get a better hot bar set up to keep the food at appropriate temperature. Especially at the prices they are charging. I truly miss the old mizumi.
