Solid Viet food in the heart of Chinatown. It's right next to the B Grand Street station, so very convenient! Their normal bowl of pho is around )12, while their extra large bowl is $14 (number 1). I tried the large bowl and it can easily be made into 2 portions. I took a takeaway container that was entirely full home! The broth is very fragrant and has a fatty after taste. It tasted different than other phos I've had, but in a good way. The restaurant itself is large, so you'll have no problem getting a table. If you pay with cash you get a 3% discount as well. Would come back!
Came in randomly and it was really tasty and good prices! I got the eye of round and the broth was fantastic! Place has a cute vibe with lights in entrance.
Update 2 to 2.5 stars. Came back again since the last time and it has gotten worst. I have been to this spot and it was my original pho spot since 2016. However, in the last 6 months to a year, they must have lost a chef or something because the food has changed dramatically for the worst. The rest of the staff are the same such as the waiters and front desk. Today the noodles were not soaked in water first. The reason I know this is because they left a starch taste in my mouth. Also they were overcooked and soggy. The broth was even more bland and did not have an ounce of beef flavor. It might as well have been water with soy sauce as I had to add oyster sauce to the broth to get some kind of flavor. The meats are still the same and the only thing that is still consistent with the pho.I would recommend going to Kitchen Co Ut a block away or Grand Street Pho instead.
What can I say about Nam Son... this place has been a part of my Christmas tradition for years. The price points when shopping in Chinatown are so much better than other neighborhoods for produce, with huge bag of Bok choy costing only 2.50$, so I come here to shop for my large Christmas dinners (not so large this year, alas) while I’m in the neighborhood I always stop at Nam Son for a huge bowl of their phó. The broth, the meat, the noodles, the condiments; all perfect. And to top it all of a bowl that feeds me and my girlfriend and daughter costs about 12$. It’s fantastic and after I’ve blown my bank account on Christmas gifts it’s a nice change to get something amazing for so little. Don’t be scared, get the tripe! Get the beef tendon! Thank me later.
