The tea and sour cherry sweetener were nice, but the tea was nothing fancy or inaccessible so I'm not really sure what I was paying for.
Service was underwhelming, considering what you are paying you would exp ct much better. The menus were left on the table with no explanation as to how anything worked for tea or your choices. Very few waiters seemed to be working and mostly bus boys who just dropped food dishes off. Food trays came very quickly, before even be asked what you would like to drink. Tea sandwiches looked like camp sandwiches, very simple crust cut off white bread—not what you expect for 95 dollars a person. Had to wait 20 minutes for a glass of wine while food sat in front of us. Combination of mediocre food and poor service was not worth the high prices.
We found it a good experience overall but maybe a little overrated.
Amazing experience! we had a wonderful time. great food, service, atmosphere! a NYC facility! we're coming back!
What an amazing experience. the ambiente, the service, the eating, the drinks. there was not a thing that was bad. we had the caviar tasting and pelmeni dumplings as appetizer and it was not disappointed. for the net we had scallops and boeuf à la stroganoff. the scallops were incredible and the bark was incredibly tender. the eating altogether was some of the best I had in new york. the atmosphere is equally impressive, quite, cozy and romantic. and the staff was super friendly and helpful. this is a great experience in the whole environment and highly recommend the russian tea room!
